DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Station

The hotel boasts an excellent location near Kyoto Station, making it convenient to get anywhere. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the Japanese cuisine was also very good. The room, while small, was clean, and tidied daily. The front desk even granted us a late checkout. Despite all this, I really disliked this hotel.

Traveling to Kyoto, I opted for convenience and booked two rooms at a hotel near Kyoto Station. The hotel seems quite new, having recently opened. It's only a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station, and there's a 7-Eleven right outside, which is very handy. The lobby has a great design, and there are staff at the front desk who speak Chinese; the English proficiency of the other staff is generally good, so communication was seamless. The rooms are a bit small but I absolutely loved the modern hotel style. The bathroom is a compact, modular unit. You can open a suitcase in the room, and the beds are very comfortable; I slept wonderfully for both nights. The air conditioning vents are thoughtfully designed, so you barely hear any fan noise and the temperature feels very pleasant. My only complaint was the check-in speed at the front desk – it was incredibly slow, so slow...

Old and smelly. Stepping into the room felt like getting into a really stinky ride-share car. The bedding was uncomfortable, the bathroom was tiny, and the location was just okay. But it was so smelly, even with the air purifier on, it still stank. I'd even wake up in the middle of the night because of the smell. It felt like someone with very strong body odor had been living there for a long time, and the smell had just marinated into everything.

The DoubleTree by Hilton was a convenient choice, located right near Kyoto Station, which made getting around super easy. With older kids, it's tough to find triple rooms, so that was a factor in our decision. The facilities were pretty standard, nothing spectacular, but the soundproofing was good – it was quiet at night. We stayed for five nights, and while the breakfast was okay, there weren't many options that really suited Chinese tastes. In hindsight, booking a room without breakfast might have been more cost-effective.

The room was pretty good, with a slight lingering smell from a recent renovation. The bedding was comfortable to sleep on, and the size of the room was decent. The bathroom was also fine. If 10 is a perfect score, I'd give it an 8.5 or 9. The transportation is convenient! The front desk service was absolutely perfect! 💯

I forgot to take pictures of the room, but it looks exactly like the product photos. We had a very comfortable May Day holiday. The hotel's location is great, not far from Kyoto Station, but without the noise of being right next to the station. The decor and facilities are very new. It offers excellent value for money. The room was cleaned spotlessly every day. There's a Chinese-speaking gentleman at the front desk who provided excellent service and explained everything thoroughly. The breakfast was rich and varied, but there was a queue, so it's best to allow extra time for waiting.

The room isn't very big, and the decor is quite traditional for a star-rated hotel. It's quite close to Kyoto Station, about a five-minute walk, just three traffic lights away. However, the hotel next door is under renovation, and the construction team was banging away all morning, starting at 8 AM. The soundproofing of the windows isn't great. The overall soundproofing of the hotel isn't good. While we were getting our child ready for bed in the evening, an elderly foreign lady from the room opposite knocked on our door and said, "Your child is noisy." I was so mortified! We were constantly trying to remind our child to be quiet. We stayed at four hotels of a similar standard during this trip to Japan, and this was the only one where we experienced this.

The location is convenient, and there's Chinese-speaking staff at the front desk who provided excellent service. The room was quite spacious; we had no problem opening two large suitcases. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, so it didn't feel cramped. Overall, we were very satisfied.

Very close to Kyoto Station, about a 5-6 minute brisk walk, and there's a 7-Eleven right next door. This is super convenient if you arrive late in Kyoto and need to grab a quick bite. Plus, there's staff at the front desk who speak Chinese.
