Hotel JAL City Aomori

Located about a 10-minute walk from Aomori Station, this is an older Nikko hotel. The room wasn't huge, but it had all the amenities and they worked well. The service attitude was excellent, and check-in was very smooth. The complimentary lounge offered a good variety of refreshments, including soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, and various snacks. The room was clean, hygienic, and very quiet. They even provided complimentary apple juice and a small massager, which was a nice touch.

The room was nice. Although it wasn't the most recently renovated, and some of the furniture looked a bit dated, it wasn't broken or dirty. The hotel has a very retro feel. Later, when I stayed at Toyoko Inn in Hirosaki, from a purely enjoyment perspective, Hotel JAL City Aomori was relatively more interesting. It's about a seven to eight-minute walk from Aomori Station, which isn't far. However, it might feel a bit further during heavy snow. It's also a big plus that there's staff available even late at night, which I think is quite rare for hotels in Japan's regional areas. Hope to stay at JAL City again sometime!

If you've stayed at other JAL City hotels, you'll know how good this one is! The staff, in particular, are incredibly attentive, warm, and friendly! The entire room is full of thoughtful and guest-friendly details. I recommend the renovated rooms from 2025 because I saw other reviews mentioning outdated facilities, but the rooms after the 2025 renovation are perfectly fine, and they even have Dyson hairdryers. The evening lounge is also great, and the cider is good. The view from the room window is also very nice.

The hotel is about 600 meters from Aomori Station. It's a bit inconvenient if you're dragging luggage, but it's very close to the product館 (local specialty center). The room rate isn't expensive, though the bathroom facilities are a bit old, and the hot and cold water taps on the sink are separate. The breakfast is decent, but I feel it's not as extensive as it was a year ago. The worst part was the electric kettle in the room. It didn't automatically turn off when the water boiled, so it boiled all my mineral water dry, which was a waste.

Facilities: Standard. Hygiene: Clean. Environment: Very quiet next door, not noisy, and you can see Aomori Bridge. Service: The staff were very friendly! They even recommended some delicious restaurants nearby. The hotel pays great attention to detail!

Has a lounge, and I also got a large room. They gave me a bunch of snacks, perfect!
