Château du Boulay Morin

The first observation when we arrived was that we couldn’t actually get in - we rang the buzzer but no one answered. A workman was leaving so he kindly let us in, so the key code would have been useful. However our first impression of the chateau was as the title. Just wow. The gravel drive was a bit tricky for the motorbike, but we managed. There is an air of calm about the place and the grounds are extensive. The dogs and the owners came out to give us a very warm welcome. We were shown around, and guests have the use of two reception rooms, a dining room and a kitchen, as they do not offer evening meals. We were shown to our room which was up two flights of stairs (no lift) and it was lovely - huge bed, jacuzzi bath and a sitting room/office. another observation is that the rugs were quite slippy on the wooden floors. We had a problem with our motorbike and the hosts could not have been more helpful - ringing round to find a local garage to help us. We ordered in via Uber eats and all crockery/cutlery required is available. There is a small bar which is run on an honesty basis. We took a walk around the grounds accompanied by the dogs and even saw deer! Breakfast is very relaxed and the host happy to cook eggs if required. In conclusion, a stunning house, full of character, lovely hosts, and we can’t wait to go back!

Quite a unique and impressive looking hotel - a genuine French Chateau with interesting history. This old property obviously therefore comes with its 'shabby chic' quirks. The toilet was in a separate room in the bathroom which was literally the size of the toilet! The hotel offers breakfast but no other mealtimes, so you do need to leave the grounds (drive) to find somewhere to eat in the evening. The local town where there are a couple of restaurants feels out of kilter with the hotel as the town seems quite modern - almost american in style. The chateau is in lovely grounds and has a covered heated swimming pool which was a great amenity to have.

What a stunning Chateau in a stunning location. We really enjoyed this visit. If you want a normal, formal, hotel holiday this is not for you. But if you want to feel part of the Chateau and have a "lived in real" experience the host generously allows one to do so and we took full advantage and we felt it was our Chateau for the three days. Only downside is the lack of an evening full restaurant, but the St Nicholas five minutes away in Gravigny is superb. We hope to be back one day.

The Chateau is beautiful, such a restful peaceful place to stay, I was only sorry we didn't book in two nights, I felt our stay was just that bit too short. We were met on arrival by Nicholas who gave us a recommendation for a local restaurant, which was excellent. Our room had everything we needed, bed was comfortable. Next morning Philippe served breakfast regailing us of tails of King Louis XIV and his links to the chateau and the history behind it, he pointed out replica's of art in Versaille which we found on our visit there later in the week. Breakfast was followed by a swim in the spotless and warm outdoor covered pool and a walk through the grounds.

This is really the best place I have ever stayed with family, the environment was quiet and serene . It was also a hospitable and friendly place I would definitely love to come back here again. This places was really comfortable at the same time economically.

Lovely location, and brillant grounds

We had a fabulous overnight stay here and were very well looked after by Phillipe and his family and team. If you have a special car and the sun appears, you can take some lovely photos in front of this grand house. There's a lovely pool, tennis court and some football goals. Inside a pool table, and table football. Phillipe is a lovely character who even leant us one of his old cars (we only had 2 seaters!!!) to drive to the nearest village for dinner!! Breakfast is a lovely informal affair. Can I say it's an immersive experience?

This chateau is nothing short of fabulous. The owner, Phillipe, is gracious and generous. The chateau itself is gorgeous and close to the small town of Evreux. I recommend going kayaking on the Eure river. It all makes for a relaxing respite from the bustling, overwhelm of Paris. Only one hour away by train, this place is absolutely a gem. I can't say enough about how great of an experience it was.
