The Peninsula in Bangkok exudes old money charm. While the facilities aren't the newest, its nostalgic classic ambiance, along with the overall service and quality, remain top-notch. For breakfast, you can choose between a quiet indoor setting or an outdoor spot by the Chao Phraya River. The location isn't the most convenient for getting around; I used Gaode Maps for all my rides, which I found easier than Grab. Iconsiam mall is a 7-minute walk away, or you can take the hotel's complimentary shuttle boat from the pier next to the hotel restaurant. It departs every half hour for a 5-minute scenic ride on the Chao Phraya straight to the mall.

And that gentle "Sawadee Ka" when you board their exclusive teak shuttle boat. — The timeless elegance of a classic hotel lies in these muscle-memory-like details. It’s like a perfectly preserved specimen from that era when Asian economies were booming and everything aspired to be the 'best'. Just across the river is the renowned 150-year-old Mandarin Oriental, which I definitely want to experience next time. It's also super convenient, just a few minutes' walk to ICONSIAM, Asia's No.1 shopping mall. On the way back, you can even enjoy a roadside foot massage (300-400 Thai Baht for an hour) – pure bliss! ✨ Highly Recommended: 1️⃣ I absolutely loved the riverside breakfast! They have Chinese, Western, Thai, and even Indian options. The food presentation is very organized, and watching them freshly prepare Eggs Benedict (⚠️ A must-try!) puts you in a great mood. Plus, there are plenty of pigeons to chill with you during breakfast. 2️⃣ The swimming pool 🏊 isn't huge, but the ambiance is fantastic. As soon as you sit down, a server brings you iced water 🧊. It's also not crowded, so swimming on an empty stomach in the morning before breakfast is incredibly refreshing. 3️⃣ The hotel is located right on the Chao Phraya River, with its own pier and shuttle boat that takes you directly to ICONSIAM in just 5 minutes. From the ICONSIAM pier, you can transfer to other boats to visit attractions. (Do pay attention to the boat schedule). Our trip was absolutely perfect! Huge thanks to the hotel staff for their dedication; it made our 10th anniversary truly meaningful ❤️. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, and the massage was incredibly professional. We'd definitely love to come back if we get the chance!

Facilities: Excellent Cleanliness: Spotless Environment: Right by the sea, very comfortable Service: Attentive and prompt (During my stay, the floor drain was a bit clogged and water was backing up. The staff member came in barefoot, got down on the floor, and wiped it up. I gave them a tip).

The rooms were old, which was acceptable, but the service was practically non-existent. The only warmth we experienced came from a young man at the pool bar who was learning Chinese – a huge thank you to him for his service. Overall, I'd give it a 5 out of 10, with 4 points solely thanks to him. For similar money, the Sukhothai we stayed at last year was far superior. I definitely won't be returning to this Peninsula.
