This hotel is in the Old Town, has breakfast as option, good sized rooms including a spacious shower. Unusual for Europe. The room was airconditioned - a bonus for Europe - so needed in Summer. Great location, with lots of coffee shops, boutiques, cafes, pubs and the Mozart Museum super close. It has stairs and a lift. Nice quality linen and towels. Highly recommend. It’s not luxury but is clean, comfortable and has character and location.

This is a historic hotel in the center of the best part of Salzburg just off of the famed Getreidegasse. Location can’t be beat. We chose a larger room with separate couch and it did not disappoint. Room was well appointed with mini bar fridge. It was really a two room suite with living room and bedroom and separate toilet room and shower room. Air conditioning worked beautifully and kept the room/ suite very cool on a hot summer day. We stayed two nights. The biggest challenge was parking. Definitely stay at the Red Cross lot (Rote Kreuz) and wheel a small bag to the hotel if traveling by car. We left our car for two nights and this is by far the safest and most convenient parking for this hotel (or any hotel in the center.) It was full and we had to drive around to wait for a spot in the line but our wait was short after entering the three car waiting queue for the parking lot. It’s a very easy safe walk to the hotel from the Rote Kreuz lot and I’m shocked that this isn’t the parking lot that the hotel itself recommends on its website. I’m very familiar with Salzburg and have stayed in various hotels - including the very top hotels over the years and the price at the Elefant is good for the center of Salzburg. Their remodel was well executed- it was many years since I’ve stayed at the Elefant. Front desk was far from warm and friendly but were businesslike and demanded city tax despite fully prepaid room. They would be much better including the city tax upfront! It’s a little trite and insulting to request tax upon check in- around 15 euros each- after paying hundreds for a room. Their electronic buttons to request privacy or cleaning in the room are state of the art and very cool! Bed was comfy. They need black out curtains though as their curtains annoyingly didn’t cover the rods very well without a song and dance ( lots of tugging and positioning) We walked to Herzl at the Goldener Hirsch for a fabulous meal upon arrival and booked the Sacher terrace for lunch the following day for the best Salzburger Nockerl in town and their famous Sacher wurstel. Breakfast on the terrace at the Cafe Tomaselli was lovely.

This review is meant for Hotel Elefant (there seems to be another with the added phrase of "family business") apparently belonging to the same group. Apart from the location, there was absolutely nothing to like about this hotel. The room was tiny like a box with no space to move. I couldn't even reach the window curtain as there was no space. The floor was dirty. The front office guy had "Zero - or should I say Negative" customer orientation. We were to arrive late in the evening because the bus was late and I kept them informed. However, the situation improved and we arrived earlier (well after the check-in time though). During check-in, the guy at the front desk appeared annoyed that we came earlier than indicated. Apparently the same guy checked us out and when we shared our experience, he curtly said "that was the room you chose". He didn't have any interest to even listen to what we had to say. The guys running the hotel do not seem to acknowledge that they have an obligation to provide a minimum standard of service level when they are taking a sizeable mount of money from the guests. We travel a lot and stayed in many hotels around the globe and this stay by far definitely provided the worst value for money. We paid almost $900 for a two nights stay just for a disgusting experience !

Hotel is in good location but that's the only good thing about it. Staff is extremely rude and uncooperative. We asked for adapters but the guy in evening shift refused saying they don't have but in morning the other person showed that they had a lot of them. Morning i asked for late check out which was refused and when i requested once again, I was shouted at!

The hotel is located in the heart of Salzburg walking distance to many attractions, restaurants and shops. The accommodations were good ( clean, a comfortable bed and a hot shower). Location and comfortable accommodations are the most important for my husband and me. However there was no morning coffee unless you buy the breakfast ( we were out early each morning so we didn't have time for a full breakfast). Also although our room was smoke free other parts of the hotel are smoking so sometimes the smell of smoke throughout the hotel. The room's layout was kind of funky. The hotel is very charming. The front staff were helpful and called us a cab and did a wake up call. All in all I would stay here again for the location alone and the comfortable bed.

Nice hotel close to the city sites of Salzburg. Accommodations were clean and quiet. Breakfast buffet was good as well. The only thing you have to look out for is getting to the hotel by car - it's difficult if you do not know where you are going - narrow streets. Take the hotel advice and park at the local garage which is about 10 min walk from hotel - they also give you better parking price as well.

The location of the hotel is perfect, you can reach all important locations in the old city by feet. The hotel itself is fine, clean, and adequate breakfast, but nothing special. Only minor topic is that the restaurant is not part of the hotel, it was outsourced and it is not possible to make reservations in the hotel itself, and the restaurant doesn’t care at all if you are a hotel guest or not to prioritize reservations. Not a major issue, but a small but..

We stayed for two nights while touring central Europe. The location in the Altstadt is perfect - easy access to all you want to see and to restaurants. Just a 5-10 minute bus ride from the station. We stayed in the Hotel Elefant part. The view was mostly rooftops - it was nice. The room ("executive") was spacious - and bit more furniture could have been fitted in. All spotlessly clean. Slept well. Very friendly service and the reasonable breakfast. Recommended.

There is absolutely no way this can be described as a two-room suite, as advertised. The listing clearly described the accommodation as a “bedroom” with a double bed and a “living room” with a sofa bed. In reality, it was a single small and dark room, with both the double bed and sofa bed crammed into the same space. Calling this a two-room setup is misleading at best – and frankly, false advertising. I naturally offered the hotel a chance to respond or provide some form of compensation before writing this review. At the reception, the staff acknowledged that it was indeed only one room – and said I could have seen that from the pictures. The receptionist said she would forward my complaint to her manager, but I never heard back. Had we known it was just a single, small, and poorly lit hotel room, we would have chosen a different hotel.
