Our stay here was a strange experience. Overall, things seemed decent at first: our luggage, which we had shipped from Tokyo, was already waiting for us in the room, the room was clean (haha), and there was tea and coffee in capsules. At check-in, we were informed that the hotel aims to be eco-friendly, so linen is changed every three days—standard stuff like that.
Imagine my surprise when we returned the following evening to find that the daily housekeeping consisted of someone simply making the bed (just tucking in the blanket). The dirty cups with used tea bags and glasses with cola residue were left exactly where I had placed them by the sink. No new supplies were restocked: neither cotton pads nor more tea. Is this really a four-star hotel?
A day later, I asked for the towels to be changed (even the one I had left on the floor was still there!) and for some water to be brought. The staff wore utterly displeased expressions and clearly had no desire to do it. Breakfast was bland; the only genuinely tasty items were the croissants, which they hand out one per person.
The hotel itself is located on a quiet street, about a ten-minute walk from the nearest subway station. All in all, I was disappointed with my choice of hotel in Kyoto and wouldn’t recommend it.
