Very traditional Japanese hotel. Right on the river, with great view! The dinner is unbelievable. They even had a geisha performance at dinner. It is a little hard to get to, check with the hotel for pick up shuttle service. We went in the summer. I think when the leaves change color in the fall, the place is going to be magnificent

Very nice place. Exceptional service, very attentive staff, shuttle bus service, no issues with payments. Would highly recommend.

Facilities: The hotel is quite old, mainly a century-old wooden building, very ancient, it's an experience. There's no hot spring, just a regular bath, which I wasn't too happy about; it's just a small public bathhouse. Hygiene: Pretty clean. Environment: The environment is all about the experience and feeling; overall, it's very unique and great. Service: Service was pretty good. Food quality is average, enough to fill you up, generally good value.

The age of the place is catching up, interior finishing looks dated and has a stale smell.  But the food provided is superb, if you care a lot about interior fixtures, this is probably not the right place for you.

Facilities: The annex is relatively small overall. Without the riverside seating, there's not much to explore; you can only really soak up the atmosphere. Service: The service was truly attentive! All the staff were very attentive and friendly; you could always find a place to stay. Seasonal Kyoto Set Meal Dinner: A truly magical meal, so delicious! 😋

If you have dinner on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, you can also see Ms. Maeko's dance.

A once-in-a-lifetime experience, Kyoto's autumn foliage season. The suspension bridge was truly stunning.

I'd been wanting to stay at this hotel for ages, and I finally got to experience it this time. The environment was serene and tranquil, a truly unique experience. It was a great way to escape the hustle and bustle and relax. Plus, the breakfast and dinner were incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. It was definitely worth the trip! There are also several different temples nearby that you can visit and offer prayers.

This is my second stay at this hotel. The environment and service are both excellent. The suspension bridge is very stylish, and the dinner is also very unique, with a Wizard of Oz feel. The outdoor bath at night is a special experience.

Just a 50-minute drive from Kyoto Station. Takao is called Kyoto's inner parlor. This peaceful, old ryokan (Japanese-style hotel) is located across the suspension bridge. This ryokan offers plans without dinner, but asks guests to be aware that because of its remote location deep in the mountains, there are no restaurants in the surrounding area. The ryokan can later accept separate requests for meals; however initially booking the plan including breakfast and dinner is recommended as it is a better value.
There is a Japanese/Western-style guestroom with an open-air bath where guests can enjoy the sweeping view of autumn leaves all to themselves and a wooden deck where guests can relax during warm seasons. There is also a Japanese-style room with 2 adjoining rooms which is the closest guestroom to the river in the entire hotel.
This room has an open-air bath from which guests can look out on the Kiyotaki River, and from early June to early July, guests can enjoy seeing Japanese fireflies from their rooms and the open-air baths. After the hotel lights go out, enjoy watching the fireflies wondrously flying about
Breakfast will be served in the restaurant or banquet halls.
Guests must contact the lodge before 18:00 on their day of arrival. Guests who do not make contact prior to 19:00 will not receive an evening meal. null
