It has been meticulously restored and transformed from old courtyards, with some courtyards being former residences of historical figures, seamlessly blending the rich heritage of Old Beijing's hutongs with a luxurious accommodation experience. Its location is superb, within walking distance of Qianmen Street and Tiananmen Square. Guests can enjoy the tranquility of a private courtyard amidst the bustling city, and the independent courtyard-style rooms offer excellent privacy. The hotel provides a dedicated butler team, and their service strikes the perfect balance. During my stay, I was initially dissatisfied with my room type. After providing feedback, the hotel responded very promptly and efficiently arranged a room change for me. As a Trip.com Black Diamond member, I also received an exclusive customized chocolate dessert prepared by the hotel, adding a lovely touch of ceremony. The dining options are extensive, including a Michelin-standard Cantonese Chinese restaurant, a hutong bar, and courtyard afternoon tea. Guests can also participate in local cultural experiences such as hutong walks and Chinese tea ceremonies. The guest rooms retain the original architectural layout while being fully equipped with high-end modern amenities. Staying here is not just about simple accommodation; it's an immersive experience of the old city's vibrant life, making it highly recommended for those who appreciate history and culture.

This courtyard hotel truly lives up to its name, with each guest room featuring its own private courtyard. These rooms are spread throughout the hutongs from Caochang 10th Alley to 3rd Alley. The interiors are exquisitely decorated and well-laid out. From the moment our room manager, Karlie, guided us through check-in, we experienced a series of perfect services. Every request was met promptly and efficiently. My family thoroughly enjoyed their stay, and we'd also like to thank the hotel staff for their help!

From the moment of reception to the stay itself, you can feel that the hotel strives to emulate an Aman Hotel. The service is very good, but if it could achieve the same natural comfort as an Aman, I believe it would be even better. While I understand that renovating a hutong courtyard is not easy, the prices charged are also not cheap. Therefore, many details actually need more improvement to justify the cost. For example, it takes almost a minute for hot water to come out, the turndown service was very perfunctory, the towels and bedding could be better, and the toiletries should also be upgraded to a higher standard. Only then would it truly be worth the price. Nevertheless, the genuine enthusiasm for service is commendable.

It's not easy to bring a luxury five-star hotel into a hutong, but it's definitely worth the price for the unique Chinese cultural experience it offers. The hotel's design and location are perfectly suited for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Beijing's hutong culture. As for the dining, well, to be honest, I found the selection of dishes a bit limited. It felt like the two restaurants were almost forced into existence just to meet the standards of a star-rated hotel. The welcome drink was a great touch though, big plus! If I had to pick something I wasn't entirely satisfied with, it would be the 'kneeling' service. I don't think it's necessary for a hotel to adopt such a culture; modern and open-minded Chinese people don't need this kind of service, and there's certainly no need to offer it to foreigners. Yes, this hotel is expensive, but considering the property values within the Second Ring Road, I can accept the price. However, a high price doesn't justify such subservient service. Also, being in a hutong, it's understandable to find some insects in the room at night, which can be a bit scary, especially for kids. Lastly, a few spots in the room weren't perfectly cleaned, but I won't post pictures. Overall, it's a great place for families, and I highly recommend it.

The guest services team contacted us even before our arrival, and a concierge was waiting at the entrance to greet us, providing exceptionally warm service. Our butler handled the check-in process and personally escorted us to our room, maintaining a warm and welcoming demeanor throughout. We particularly loved the hotel's thoughtful welcome amenities, including a special room key and a gift for our child. Each evening, we also received a turndown gift and a handwritten note. The Mandarin Oriental truly excels in guest relations. 2. We dined at both the Chinese and Western restaurants, and the food quality was excellent. Room service was delivered with a sense of occasion, complete with a table centerpiece. 3. Housekeeping and laundry services were impeccable. Our laundered clothes were returned beautifully packaged, which was a very nice touch. 4. Although the rooms are spread throughout the hutongs, the concierge and shuttle service were prompt, convenient, and very efficient. In summary, the Mandarin Oriental Qianmen offers an unparalleled experience for a vacation in Beijing.

This time, my girlfriend and I chose to celebrate a special day of love at the Mandarin Oriental Qianmen in Beijing. I had heard that Qianmen MO ranked 14th in the 2026 World Top 50 Hotels, so we decided to experience it ourselves. To summarize: Hotel Service - full marks; Cultural Experience - full marks; Hotel Decor - full marks. I communicated our check-in time with the butler in advance. Upon arrival, the Director of Housekeeping, our butler, the doorman, and about 5 other staff members greeted us warmly with a bouquet of roses. From that moment on, whether it was the decor evoking old Beijing hutongs or the warm welcome service, I immediately fell deeply in love with it. Once we entered the room, the special occasion decorations and welcome amenities were all perfectly arranged. I'd like to specially commend our butler, Miss Melody. She truly treated us with sincerity and meticulously met our needs. From booking Ten Triggers Bar to arranging transportation, breakfast requests, and late check-out, everything was communicated through a dedicated WeChat group and arranged perfectly in advance. Many thanks! Regarding the stay experience, this was my first time staying in a hotel with a private courtyard. We stayed at Dongcheng Caocang 3 Tiao, and the entire small courtyard was ours. I even felt like I had a home in Beijing, a siheyuan of my own. (On a side note, the butler told us we were very lucky to be staying in the same room where Dylan Wang once stayed). It was a perfect, happy, and unforgettable stay. I hope to return here again for another stay on a snowy winter day.

This hotel definitely lives up to its reputation! Everything, from the facilities and cleanliness to the environment and service, was impeccable. Valets proactively opened the car doors upon arrival, and every staff member greeted us warmly. After the shuttle dropped us off at our room, the staff meticulously explained the in-room amenities and local attractions. The location is unbeatable too – right by the souvenir and cultural relics center, and you can easily walk or bike to the National Museum and Tiananmen Square. Highly recommend, I'll definitely be back!

As a new Fan of MO, I finally had the chance to stay at what I believe is the most uniquely located hotel in China. The 42 courtyards are hidden within Caochang Hutong, identifiable only by a single lantern at the entrance. This design perfectly integrates with centuries of history, preserving the everyday charm of the hutong. The room layout for my stay was very well-proportioned, with the living room and bedroom on opposite sides of the courtyard, connected by a corridor. Our butler explained that because each available courtyard has a different structure, and they've maintained the original framework, every room has a unique design. For example, some rooms have a tea room, while others have larger courtyards. Regardless of which room you stay in, you'll find a secluded home right in the heart of Beijing. Service has always been a strong suit of Mandarin Oriental. From chatting with the General Manager during check-in to learn about the hotel's history and philosophy, to the dedicated butler group (special shout-out to butler Karlie), and finally to assistance with check-out, I experienced meticulous service at every turn. It even felt a bit like Aman's level of service; staff members could accurately greet me by name, and information from one conversation would be known by other staff members. Time flew by in this tranquil atmosphere. I will definitely visit again given the opportunity.
