After booking, I contacted the hotel to arrange the pick-up and other transportation. The hotel responded to the email promptly. The car and driver were also the hotel's own car. Because the hotel is located in the countryside and is relatively remote, I dare not Grab it myself. It turns out that the hotel's car and driver service are very satisfactory. Stay in here for several times and never get bored. Everyhting is always perfect. Friendly staff. Easy booking. This time is Celebrate a new year eve with family. Love the food. Love the room. Stay in Merapi 1 room, very beautifull view. No complain at all. The coffee is very good. Bought some for my friends. Mas Wiwid, F&B Manager is very helpfull and friendly.

The resort looks lovely (like the photos) and the staff are very kind and helpful. However, it doesn’t live up to the promised quiet retreat. If the first objective of a hotel is to get you a decent nights sleep this place doesn’t do it. There are several mosques in the vicinity that will wake you up at 4am and keep you awake for 30-45 minutes. And you can’t have a siesta during the day, for the same reason. So at the same time that it is too remote for you to go anywhere else to eat, it is not remote enough to allow you to actually rest. The food is decent, but very expensive for the area. One course costs the same as a full meal for 4 in Yogya. There is a small cafe beside the coffee plantation that has a limited range of food, but at least has Indonesia prices. It’s a lovely place for a coffee or lunch, but it closes at 6pm in the week, and they don’t advertise the fact that this cheaper option exists. The hamman is not included, which is amazing given the daily rate. The staff are not always in the right place at the right time. In the evening the bar was often not staffed and in the afternoon the staff were not always at the pool, so we had to dig around for towels. There were cockroaches in the bathroom in spite of the daily cleaning efforts, but the villas are pretty open to the elements, so maybe not surprising. All in all, given the very high cost of our stay, I expected to come away more rested. I won’t be going back.

Tucked away deep in Central Java, wrapped in misty hills and coffee plantations. It’s part of the Mr & Mrs Smith collection, and definitely ticks the boutique box: charming, peaceful, and rich with local character. The villa is big. Like, big big. Lots of space to breathe, unwind, and pretend you’ve escaped the world. Service is warm and homey — more like being looked after by a gracious host than a hotel team. But where it fell a little short for me was the dining and inclusion. When you’re this remote, the food needs to really sing and other amenities included— and while it wasn’t bad, it never quite hit the high notes. All in all, MesaStila is a lovely one-off escape — perfect for a digital detox or a romantic hideaway. But as beautiful as the setting is, I’m not rushing back. A nice getaway, just not one I’ll be putting on repeat.

What a great couple of days breaking our journey from Yogyakarta to Semarang. The whole place was a calm oasis. Ideal for a bit of down time on a busy holiday. The room was spacious and well appointed and a very private outside space. The food was excellent and the service was attentive. All in all a beautiful place to spend a few quiet days.
