Hotel Nord Otaru

Booked 2 rooms, given 2 junior suites 501 & 401 which looked just like a bigger room with 2 lavatories & 3 beds. Positives, - Great location. - Had in house parking with a fee. - Welcome drink counter during check in timings. - self help amenities in the lobby. - Friendly english speaking Japanese staff during check in. ( Not the case the next day when i was making a compliant, front desk lady couldn’t really understand english) Negatives, - Disgustingly dirty bedding you will see from my attached pictures. Fellow travelers please pull back the comforter & check your sheets. Never expect to see all this from a highly rated hotel. Prior to writing this review I did come across another traveler complaining about his dirty & stained bedding so I am not alone in this. My room has 3 beds, the stained ones were the 2 inner beds, I reckon the staff just took the easy way out & just tucked everything back in without even checking. While making a complaint in the morning the front desk lady could not really understand English so I told her I will bring the issue up with booking agent which in this case was Trip. The agent Jayson resolved it for me by offering me an acceptable refund as the hotel pretended to be busy & shrink any responsibility. Still had the audacity to rebuke Trip’s agent by responding saying that their staff wouldn’t have missed such a glaring stain on it’s bedding & I did not give then a chance to change the bedding when I brought it to their attention in the morning. At no time did they offer to change the bedding & inspect the room as they claimed to have done when Trip’s agent queried them, all the front desk lady did was to apologise. Plus there was no need for change as I was only staying one night & was already checking out that very morning. Please check your beddings before sleeping, thought tucking into clean sheets was a given in Japan but not after this fiasco for me. Last picture is of the entrance doorway area in the room, had plenty black stains on the floor which the room attendant didn’t even bother removing.

Room is clean and best view on famous canal , the breakfast also good with many varieties. We enjoyed the stay and look forward next visit .

We stayed one night and it was nice. Hotel location is strategically across LE Tao, the Otaru canal, the shopping street and also to the Aeon shopping. All is good except it was difficult to find cheap parking space near the hotel. We had to park in an open space over night about 5 mins walk from hotel. Overall the hotel is recommended.

This is by far the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at, not just in Japan, but in the entire world. After I showed front desk staff the stains on our sheets, blanket, and mattress, the receptionist spent more than an hour trying to find clean replacements. However, every single set she brought had stains on it. By that point, it was late and we were exhausted, so we gave up and all piled into the one bed that had the fewest stains. The next morning, a staff member came to apologize. I told him it wasn't his personal fault, but that the hotel's quality control system needed a complete overhaul—if the system fails, the guest experience will always suffer no matter how hard individual staff try. I shook his hand and informed him that I would be filing a claim with Trip.com. Shockingly, hotel management later refused my refund request, claiming that because I shook the staff member's hand before leaving, I must have been satisfied. The manager's behavior is completely shameless.

great location and nice place to stay! we had a pleasant 2 nights here and its location is top-notch. it’s opposite the otaru canal and close to nearby attractions. the room was spacious and clean as well.

The location is good for food. Not much shopping near by. The canal is very small. Letao is just opposite.
