Camping Village Roma Capitol

We came back because our previous stay here was fantastic. Unfortunately, this visit has been the exact opposite. For the price we paid, we were shocked to discover that bed sheets, towels, and even basic toiletries were not included. To make matters worse, guests must also pay extra for sunbeds and umbrellas at the pool. It feels like almost every basic service comes with an additional charge. A holiday shouldn’t feel like you’re constantly being asked to pay more after you’ve already spent so much. What was once a great value has become an expensive stay with fewer inclusions. Sadly, this camping resort is no longer the place we enjoyed a few years ago. We won’t be returning, and unfortunately, we can no longer recommend it.

Room was good, good air conditioning other than that not much going for it, what really annoyed me after spending silly money on premium housing, you pay 15 euro a day which is a joke for an umbrella and sun beds, have to wear poxy swimming hats in an outdoor pool, lifeguards are like prison guards you can’t have no fun whatsoever with a ball or diving in or you’ll be whistled at repeatedly, the food menu is so bang average close from 2-6pm how does that help anyone who wants a later lunch, cry at you for not wearing a poxy T-shirt outside of the restaurant but if your smoking in the same area your fine? Work that one out, also no breakfast menu, did 8/9 days here and not once was the shop restocked difficult to get anything for breakfast. The place itself is a 40/50 min taxi ride which will cost you 80 euro anywhere it’s not the worst like taxis are expensive but you’ll become bored quickly here and want to venture out and money adds up, beach is close enough also but still out of the way from everything, just in general not a great experience, main things were the lack of food choices on menu for kids it’s chicken nuggets and chips or nothing really and going to the pool is an absolute joke it’s nothing special either, won’t be back

We are a family of 5, 4 adults and 16 year old and have stayed on many campsites over the years in various countries. The campsite is really well maintained and staff are very friendly and excellent location if wanting to visit Rome. We stayed with Eurocamp and the caravan was situated at the far end of site meaning long walks to the amenities. Only 1 pool complex was open whilst we were there. It was really good, clean although swim hats are required in the water and you have pay for sunloungers. There are places you can leave your stuff if you dont want to pay. The restaurant was nice, good menu choice and you can takeaway most things. The supermarket was poor for the size of the site. Not much choice and very expensive. There is a supermarket 20 minute walk away. The shuttle service to beach and railway station was very good and required as site is quite isolated. Would recommend but be prepared to pay if you want to travel outside of site and do a lot of walking.

I viated with my 15 year old daughter. We had a 2 bed Eurocamp caravan. Booked through sun holidays, so very cheap. Dated but functional. All we wished for was a base and aircon! The shower broke, the toilet wouldnt flush, there was no plug in the sink and the blade broke off the knife - all though were sorted by the Eurocamp member of staff Carlos. We also had a late check out of 4pm as our flight was late. Th things to be wary off. You will need a swim hat in the pool - think a swimming lesson cap! The pool was gorgeous, but off the pools only one was open. All toilets and changing facilities are spotless. There is little shade and you have to pay for loungers and brollies. If we had been tjere for.longer id have bought some.chairs.from the supermarket and brought them along! Site supermarket is good, but pricey. We used Carrefour in Ostia a lot. Now Ostia is a bit of a dive and a bit of a drive. We didnt have a car and we spent a small fortune on.taxis. thw shuttle.from the campsite just about matched a taxi for us both of us. If we'd been with the rest of the family a taxi would have been cheaper everytime. Trains though were cheap and efficient. We found we could be at Rome Termini within an hour of.leaving the site. We traveled from thw airport using the Leonardo express rhen put our bags in a left luggage, looked about and used the train to get to Osita on the first day. We had a rechargeable travel card. 2 days exploring Rome. Then we had one day in Florence, an early start but 16 euros each from Rome to Florence business class booked in advance. Was a bargin compared to the uk! Lovley air con, and wifi with huge seats. Made a day inFlorence very doable in the heat. We couldn't face getting train back to the airport so we got a taxi. I used freeway as thats the italian Uber but I was charged 75 euros.... which is extortionate when it was a 15/20 min trip. Complained and got it reduced to 38 euros. So a bit of a warning there! Overall, we were grateful of the cheap base and we did everything we wanted to.do but I wouldnt visit again.

We were booked in for 2 weeks - we did not enjoy the experience s much as e had expected consider how much we paid. Yes the pool ws clean, yes the acomadation was clean but small, yes the sit shop was grand but on the negative side - -staff in the restaurent mainly were disinterestd and often confused about the menu and often got the bills wrong -staff in the reception were not overly friendly or helpful -the shuttle bus only goes to two destinations. - the station and a beach. The beach is just a beach with no tourist shops or restaurents - its quite residential. There is one beach club that can pay t ogo into that has a restaurent but be careful of opening hours. One day we got a white taxi for 17e to Ostia Centro where there is a clothes shopping steet. -thr tain from the tain to rome is great - probably takes thje sae time to gt from the amp to the station as it does rom the station to Rome. Our advice- If you walk left out of the campsite for about 10mins (their is susposedly a no5 public but but it is incredibly unreliable) there is a nice restaurent called Nonnas (be careful - steak i charged by the ounz) If you go 10mins to the right you will find a big supermarket called Conad. Opposite is a pizzeri and bar. -if you con go a urther 10/15 and turn left at the big round about you come to Ostia Antica - a really picturesque and quant town with lovely little restaurents clusterd around a square and castle. Also just 1 min out side the vilage is a site similar to Pompey.

Power kept cutting off. AC doesn't work that well. Random loud bang sound in the cabin walls.

Overall this site is ok but there are some real hidden costs you should consider. Accommodation- go for premium the outside space is great with a sofa all other lodges just come with basic outside table and half sun coverage and the heat was brutal. Also beware of the linen charges (more at the end) Site- pool is fantastic but a major flaw is paying for sunbeds and umbrellas. €15 for 2 bed 1 Brolley but no other coverage so they have you in a corner. They also have lifeguards that whistle constantly all day at people who don’t wear swim hats. That got tedious to say the least. Entertainment is 12-1400 fine then 16-1800 which is basically a guy throwing out songs with the most foul language I’m no shrinking violet but it’s an amazement how he’s allowed to. We left both days. Restaurant- expensive for what is it but ok. Site in general.- over run with big church groups well over 1000 when we stopped and super noisy. It’s also quite a distance from anywhere shop on site nothing compared to the one. Mile away. CAR ESSENTIAL. Add ons…. Family of 4 Euro/tourist tax €100 pool beds €100euro pool hats €20 linen €100 so the accom price is not the real cost so be careful.

Quite a few bad reviews need to be ignored. We had a good time there. The cabin was clean and tidy, shower was hot and always worked. Mosquitos are a problem but buy a repellent from the onsite store and burn them as described, then we had very few mosquitos. Toilets and and showers were always kept clean and tidy ( we were out of season ). The pools were good for the kids. The lifeguards turned the kiddy's play area on everytime our kids went there. The staff where all helpful and friendly, they all looked a bit fed up, but when you spoke with them they where all very civil. Our visit is really at the end of season. Easy access to Rome by train. Train station 1.5km walk from site. We would use this site again, if we're down by Rome again.

Not good at all! Dont go here! Swimming pool beds need to be paid for, even tho most of them are always empty. Food at the restaurant is overpriced and not tastefull at all, and the staff is very unmotivated. Lifegaurds spend more time on thier phone and talking to each other then whatching the geusts. Camping offers shuttlebusses but they only drive until 7 in the evening which is odd since all restaurant around only start serving food from 7 / 8 which is very normal for italy, so then u are forced to book a taxi for around 40 euros to get back to the camping which is already in the middle of nowhere. Excuse? They only have 1 driver.. which is wierd since we alrdy drove with 2 different drivers. So just a lie. On the website says they rent bikes, also on the map of the camping, when we wanted to rent them we were told they stopped that service a year ago.. Then update your map and your site right?! When we asked the first day if we could take the bus to somewhere we were told its very difficult and we were better off taking a taxi or the shuttle, only to find out the same evening the bus stop is 200 meters away. Cabin was dirty, dust and stains everwhere so we had to clean first before we could relax, after the fact that we paid for cleaning, which was not optional. Musqitous everywhere, u can not sit outside your cabin without bieing stung all over, maybe the camping cant help it sure, but since the other pool that is out of use in the low season is so green from the alges, maybe that dirty still water atracts all of them. Just a thougt. When is shared these complains by the reception, they almost couldnt help but laugh at me and all they could offer was a ( probably) unmeant "sorry" Camping is overall a very unwelcome place and absolutly not a place for a nice holiday. I hope everyone who reads this review makes a better choice then we did.
