The room does not match the advertised picture. In the photo, a white bathroom with a marble pattern. What resulted was a narrow gray-black bathroom. I booked 2 superior rooms with a friend. The rooms are clearly different. My room is just a very narrow balcony. It's uncomfortable for even two people to stand. But my friend, the adjoining room has a spacious balcony with 2 sets of sofa chairs to sit and relax. When I informed the hotel staff, they responded that because they wanted me to stay in a room next to a friend, they chose this room for me. It was a lower level room than what I paid. Not only that, the staff offered to upgrade me to a better room and I had to pay an additional 1000euro per night. I felt so sorry for myself for choosing this hotel. Not worth the money I paid at all. Even bringing your luggage to the hotel requires you to pay extra for this service. My friends and I walked up high and far from the ground. There was no impression in the room at all. And this hotel is at the highest point of the mountain, it is very difficult for you to walk to restaurants and grocery stores. I expected a lot after being ranked a 5 star hotel as I’ve stayed in many and the experience was top tier. I wouldn’t rate this hotel a 5 star for these reasons.
The property is on the highest point of Positano which ideally does give you a great view however walking to the hotel and city center is not by any means easy.. the hotel also doesn’t offer a full day shuttle service where instead they offer it from 8:30AM-12PM at 5:00-8:00PM and 10:00-12:00PM every 30 minutes intervals. So basically if you’re at the beach or stores mid day you’re going to have to climb a dreading 25-30 mins up all the steps in order to get your hotel.
They offer a third party porter service at an extra charge which I believe a five star hotel should have their own services to take your suitcases up/down the city center/hotel for their guests.
The hotel decor makes you feel like you’re staying in an Airbnb or in someone’s home. You don’t get a Amalfi Coast or Positano vibe from staying here it’s a bit too modern in my opinion.
They have a Michelin star restaurant which we have a lot of experience with as well since we have done many chefs tastings, etc. This was by far the worst experience we have a had and every dish that came out was terrible. It’s a 3 dish minimum per person.. and we were hoping we would love it since it was conveniently located in the hotel.
Other than these issues the positives are it’s a clean hotel, very welcoming staff, great views, and a roof top pool.

HVF is simply amazing. A beautiful hotel with the friendliest staff you can find in Italy. They made our stay even better. We had a beautiful room with unparalleled views over Positano. Staff recommended places and restaurants other than their own Michelin star. They secured reservations all across Amalfi for us, and made sure we were in safe hands. Everyone is fantastic! A huge shootout to Pedro and Lucia at the Gold Rooftop, Gigi, and the valet guys! Simply the best. Now we have to come back to see our HVF family!

Amazing view and wonderful food
From the minute, we were welcomed in with a drink to the time that we left they were at our service with anything we needed. They also run a shuttle to the city center every 30 minutes throughout the day, which is very convenient. Of the Michelin star restaurant is in your agenda, plan at least 3 hours for dinner.

The hotel itself was magnificent with the views and the staff. However it was difficult to have consistent transportation back to the property. The gym was very small.
