Great stay but would recommend western room if older and not used to sitting or sleeping on tatami.

Spectacular location, excellent service. Very comfortable for a first ryokan experience. Dinner was always different and with A LOT of food. Excellent breakfast. The onsen (hot spring bath) has two options: public and private. The private one needs to be requested and costs extra. We had no problems booking it. We booked twice and there was always availability. The private bath isn't a dreamy luxury like the stunning photos online suggest, but it's comfortable, open-air, and has a view of the river in Arashiyama. It was cold on one of the onsen days, but it was super pleasant because it created a greenhouse effect in that spot. The ryokan has two free massage chairs and two free ice creams per person per day. We stayed 3 nights and found it to be the perfect amount of time! The price isn't cheap, but it's incredibly fair for all the service and quality we received. Drinks at dinner are charged separately.

A Wonderful Traditional Ryokan Experience in Arashiyama I stayed at Hanaikada for one night during my Kyoto trip and it was one of the highlights of my visit. The location is exceptional, situated right beside Togetsukyo Bridge in the heart of Arashiyama, making it easy to explore the bamboo grove, temples, riverside paths, and local shops on foot.

Fantastic Onsen in the heart of Arashiyamana. Across the bridge so a bit quieter than the Main Street, wonderful and plentiful meals and service.

The hotel is located right next to the Togetsukyo Bridge, with unique conditions. Check in in the evening, you will be introduced to the hotel. Dinner is in the room to experience the special Kaiseki cuisine, but drinks are not included. We ordered sake and beer, full of ritual sense. The hotel facilities are relatively old, and I feel I have to be careful when walking up the stairs. Because it is the cherry blossom season, the price is relatively high, but it is still good to experience it

A trip to Arashiyama with my elderly mother during the spring cherry blossom season. It had been a while since I had stayed at a traditional inn. We stayed here for one night. It had a hot spring, a good location, and included dinner and breakfast. The food was delicious. - Bamboo shoot rice and firefly squid tempura for dinner... The portions were large, but it was a pain to finish it all at the end, which was disappointing, even though it was delicious. - The breakfast was perfect in both quantity and quality. The facilities: - The guest rooms are old, but well kept. - The open-air bath on the top floor was pleasant. I think the open-air bath needs to be cleaned and maintained a little better. The inn's staff are close to each other, so you can get a glimpse of how well they work. I hope that the inn will continue to be an easy place to work for both the staff who have been contributing for many years and the new staff. It was an inn that I would like to stay at again. (Next time, I might skip lunch just to have dinner.) Thank you very much for this opportunity.

The service and location were excellent. The only drawback is that the facilities are a little old. It was a great trip and I had some great memories.

The room was nice, the dinner and breakfast were also very good. The service was also great. This time I experienced the beauty of Arashiyama in the rain. The only regret was that the bathroom in the room had a bit of smell due to the old building. However, because I used the free hot spring bath, I didn't use the bathroom in the room. I hope the hotel can find a way to solve it.
