Beijing, here I come! I took a taxi from the airport to get here. Cars aren't allowed inside the hotel premises. There are officers (hat uncles, as in police) at the entrance checking IDs. It's not far to walk in. Luggage goes through security upon entry. Check-in was quick. A crucial reminder: before checking in, make sure to book your spot to watch the flag-raising ceremony via the dedicated mini-program. The only reason I stayed here was for the convenience of having to go through only one security check to get to the ceremony. But if you haven't booked your flag-raising viewing slot in advance through the mini-program, then staying here is a waste. I'm a prime example of that. After checking in at the front desk, they give you a small national flag, which adds a nice touch to the experience. Dinner was good, and the buffet breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

The environment is very quiet and peaceful, which gave me a strong sense of security. It was a unique experience, definitely worth trying. Taking the kids to the flag-raising ceremony was very important, and staying here made it incredibly convenient to see it.

We booked this hotel because our child wanted to see the flag-raising ceremony. The hotel is located in a restricted area, so you need to show your booking confirmation to enter and go through security. It was super convenient for watching the flag-raising! The hotel staff notified us to gather at 3 AM, and then at 3:10 AM, they led us directly to the final security checkpoint, allowing us to skip two checkpoints and stand right in the front row. After watching, we walked back, had breakfast, and then went back to bed for a bit – it was incredibly comfortable. The à la carte prices at the hotel restaurant are also very reasonable, which is a big plus. And the hotel staff were excellent too – very diligent, responsible, and always served with a smile.

Although the decor is traditional, its historical significance and convenience are unparalleled, making it ideal for business or commemorative trips.

Its biggest draw is its location within the Tiananmen Square area, making it super convenient for watching the flag-raising ceremony and visiting major attractions. The in-room facilities are indeed a bit old, but that's precisely the nostalgic, retro vibe I was going for – it adds to the whole experience! Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and the service was warm and friendly. If you're not into this kind of vintage style, you might want to reconsider.
