The area around the hotel is very quiet and feels safe. The hotel's own restaurant is quite good, reasonably priced, and clean. For the flag-raising ceremony, guests need to make a reservation a few days in advance via a mini-program. The hotel organizes group viewings, which means only one security check, allowing you to get a spot in the front rows.

Came to Beijing with my kids, and a friend recommended this hotel. Its biggest draw is its location within the Tiananmen Square area, making it super convenient for watching the flag-raising ceremony and visiting major attractions. The in-room facilities are indeed a bit old, but that's precisely the nostalgic, retro vibe I was going for – it adds to the whole experience! Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and the service was warm and friendly. If you're not into this kind of vintage style, you might want to reconsider.

I chose to stay here mainly for the flag-raising ceremony in the morning. Plus, it's the Great Hall of the People Hotel, so the rooms are spacious and incredibly clean. The best part was gathering at 5:10 AM and being led through security into the square. I managed to snag a spot right in the front row for the ceremony! ✌️ After watching the flag-raising, I headed back to the hotel for a delicious breakfast. On the way, I even got a call asking if I'd left something behind. It was actually something broken that I'd thrown in the trash, but they still thoughtfully called to check. Thumbs up, highly recommend! ❤️

Except for the old facilities, there is nothing wrong with it. It is very clean, but the central air conditioning in the room is not good. However, if you don't plan to watch the flag-raising ceremony, don't stay here, because the sound of other guests closing their doors in the early morning will really wake you up.

After the flag-raising ceremony, others went out to queue for the toilet. We went back to the hotel to take a nap, got up and had breakfast, and then entered Tiananmen Square. If there are many people going through security checks, we can use our room cards to queue up from the middle. So, this holiday is great for visiting the vicinity of Tiananmen Square. 4The service is very good, much better than I expected. The fat staff who took us to see the national flag in the morning was also very friendly. He would also remind you what kind of clothes to wear according to the temperature outside.
