Hyatt Place Portland Downtown - Old Port Square

The hotel was clean and in a great spot. The staff was helpful. I was disappointed in some of the tech. You are asked to text to retrieve your car. Our car was “not recognized by the system”. We also were unable to cast to the TV in our room with a streaming app. The service kept on recognizing an adjacent room. We called the helpline but they could not resolve the issue.

The desk staff were friendly and check-in/out was easy. The room was spotless and the attendant Jeanine K very personable and helpful. The breakfast offerings were fresh, hot, and the staff courteous and refilled stations quickly. The bar is under renovations, but we found places that were walking distance. Highly recommend this facility to anyone traveling to Portland. A lovely few days of R&R.

The location was near a variety of restaurants well within walking distance, and the staff was top-notch. One of the reasons we chose this location was because the breakfast buffet received rave reviews but this morning there was a meeting going on in the breakfast area, and as a result, a very chintzy continental breakfast was set up in the lobby, which left much to be desired. We were very happy with the valet service; however, when the car was delivered to us, it was covered with what could only be described as the runoff from the solar panels which were directly above our vehicle, the contents of which could only be bird excrement and urine since we could see seagulls by the hundreds sitting up there. Our room on the top floor was beautiful but because of all the seagulls outside, there was bird excrement all over the terrace and chairs prohibiting us from being able to fully appreciate this space.

The hotel is in a great location and the room was spacious and tidy. My only critique is that the parking was not inexpensive ($45/night) and my vehicle was returned to me covered in bird excrement to the point that I had to go to the car wash almost immediately. That was disappointing.

The lobby is quite small and there is some sort of renovation going on. Not sure that is going to make it bigger or this is the new size. The breakfast room and 'gym' are below standard for a Hyatt. Not sure if this will change as well once the reno is done. The room was fine, very clean, good linens, and plenty of towels and such. It just doesn't have a lobby that makes you want to spend any time in.

We enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect and in the heart of everything. The front desk guy, Jim, was super friendly and sent us some helpful places to check out.

Their staff went above and beyond! It truly made my stay in Portland way better - from their guidance around town to their positive energy.

The front desk staff was very helpful when we had an awful odor (some kind of chemical). They had us upgraded and in a new room I. Less than 20 minutes!

Hotel is under construction at the moment. It is also the preferred hotel for ICE agents. Parking is fine, there’s a self pay lot next door as well as valet available.
