Torel 1884 Suites & Apartments

The hotel offers great value for money, especially since the rooms are very spacious and come with a kitchen, allowing guests to cook. Even dish soap and a full set of kitchen utensils are provided. The location is very convenient, perfect for city walks, and feels quite safe. However, some of the apartments are located in a separate building, about a 3-minute walk away, involving an uphill climb and no elevator. This would be quite painful if you have large luggage, though the front desk staff are helpful and assist with it. The room curtains let in too much light, and the living room lighting is dim. The rug under the sofa looks very old and dirty; if it's not going to be replaced, it would be better to remove it entirely. It's also uneven, making it easy to trip at night if the lights aren't on. The hotel itself lacks a sauna, gym, and spa. The public area, including the library, doesn't have air conditioning or fans, making it quite stuffy. Breakfast offers no self-service options, not even a toaster. The variety is limited, and there's only one chef who seems very busy. It would be good to add some self-service items like milk, fruit, and bread. On a positive note, Roi's attitude was excellent! He was very kind and helpful.

The service was incredibly warm and thoughtful. Our room was in a building on another street, and the staff proactively helped us with our luggage. That street is super convenient for sightseeing and dining, and there are lots of live performances you can watch from your small balcony. The room came equipped with a kettle, kitchenware, and dish soap, which was very handy, especially for a longer stay.

The hotel is located in the old town, which is a great location making it convenient to get everywhere. However, our room was in a separate building, and the facilities weren't as good as those in the main building. It seemed to be a converted old, abandoned building. The breakfast was quite good though.

The breakfast was great, with both à la carte options and a set menu of bread and fruit. The actual room was in a separate building, about a 5-minute walk from the check-in desk, and the staff were very helpful with luggage. The location is super central, right next to São Bento train station, and it's just a 5-10 minute walk to the Ribeira district and the Dom Luís I Bridge. Plus, there are lots of little shops downstairs to explore. Highly, highly, highly recommend!

Clean and tidy, with convenient access to transportation.

Very good hotel
