Richmond Hotel Yamagata Ekimae

Pretty good! It's very close to the station, and the breakfast was amazing! Even though it's Japanese style, there's a huge variety, especially with tempura and chawanmushi (steamed egg custard). The service was incredibly enthusiastic too.

This hotel is super convenient, right outside Yamagata Station's west exit. The room layout was great, with plenty of storage space, which was perfect for all my luggage. The breakfast spread was delicious and varied. My only minor complaint is that the restaurant had a strong lingering smell. Every time I left, my clothes smelled like I'd just been cooking in a kitchen!

Facilities: Comprehensive and convenient. Cleanliness: Spotless and hygienic. Environment: Beautiful and comfortable. Service: Attentive, warm, and hospitable.

I booked this hotel for its location. After checking out in the morning, it's only a 7-8 minute walk to the bus stop for the Zao bus (though you definitely need to buy tickets early, an hour in advance during peak season). The hotel maintains the high standards typical of a chain, with good cleanliness. They've also added some local flavor, with a very rich breakfast spread featuring some local specialties. Most importantly, they have rooms that can accommodate multiple people, which is perfect for families or a large group of friends.
