Generally a great place to stay! Quiet area, extremely near the train station, the hotel amenities were great. They have food delivery and massage services, and their lounge opens till midnight. The free soba dinner was also delicious! They have phone charger cables provided and extra pillow in the room already. It’s a very well-prepared room. Only downside is that the room was a bit dusty, likely from ventilation issue; not due to lack of cleaning

This hotel is super convenient, right outside Yamagata Station's west exit. The room layout was great, with plenty of storage space, which was perfect for all my luggage. The breakfast spread was delicious and varied. My only minor complaint is that the restaurant had a strong lingering smell. Every time I left, my clothes smelled like I'd just been cooking in a kitchen!

Richmond Yamagata Ekimae is the best. Price is best, service and cleanliness is superb. Free Soba, ice cream and soft drink on 2nd till 10:00pm. Highly recommended!

After checking out in the morning, it's only a 7-8 minute walk to the bus stop for the Zao bus (though you definitely need to buy tickets early, an hour in advance during peak season). Most importantly, they have rooms that can accommodate multiple people, which is perfect for families or a large group of friends.

This hotel is located conveniently. There are railway stations and bus terminals near. You can use this hotel as a base and visit other places by public transport. Some travelers live in this hotel and go to Zao Onsen ski resort for skiing or snowboarding. There are a lot of places to eat or go shopping.

I like Richmond Hotels for their modern decor and well-maintained property. Unfortunately this location in particular falls short of the most basic criteria of a hotel - cleanliness, especially in Japan. There were molds found in the bathroom in between the tub and the wall, as well as in between the window silts. The location of the hotel is about 5 mins walk from the Yamagata Station. Staff were nice and hospitable. The free midnight snack and free drinks and ice cream in the lounge were nice touches to the stay.
