Bad hygiene. In house BBQ smoke comes into the room when AC is on (which is literally all the times). AC is not working well because of lack of clean. The fridge keeps humming so I unplug it, and the iceberg starts to melt and water spreads on all over the floor - it must been have been years since last clean.

I have stayed at scallywags on gili air in 2024 & 2025, this was my first time staying at scallywags on gili t and it didn’t disappoint! Staff were friendly and kind and breakfast was good! After staying at scallywags on both islands I would really recommend them if you want good value for your money!

This hotel is in an excellent location, right on the main street, which is super convenient. There are so many great restaurants nearby, which was a huge plus. The most important thing for me was the bed – it was incredibly comfortable, and I slept really well every night. However, the breakfast was absolutely terrible. So, you win some, you lose some, I guess.

The hotel staff were very friendly and patient in their communication. They even forgave our broken English... We were also upgraded to a sea-view room, which had an amazing view. However, the tap water in the hotel was quite salty, which might be due to it being an island and the filtration system. The air conditioning leaked at night, but they fixed it after we reported it.

The location, cleanliness, and amenities at this hotel are all great, and I felt perfectly located for everything I needed. The staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful; they even kindly gave me a free upgrade to a garden front view room. Just a note for future travelers: in most rooms, the toilet and shower are built at the back of the room in an outdoor style setup. It is accessed via a door from your room and is private enough with a garden wall, but because it is technically outside, there were quite a few flies buzzing around while using the facilities. I wasn't the biggest fan of that aspect, but otherwise, it was a pleasant stay!
