Avens Alaska

Our stay at Avens Alaska was absolutely amazing! The accommodations were awesome, and the food was truly incredible. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. For an off-grid experience, this place felt like a 5-star stay! The setting was beautiful, peaceful, and unlike anything we’ve experienced before. You get the feeling of being completely away from it all while still being comfortable and well taken care of. The food deserves a special mention—it was absolutely delicious and made the whole experience even better. You can tell there is a lot of care and attention put into making guests feel welcome. If you’re looking for a unique Alaska experience, beautiful surroundings, amazing food, and accommodations that make you feel right at home while being off the grid, I highly recommend Avens Alaska! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We would definitely stay here again!

Amazing experience to stay here for a couple of days. It's very remote, but the cabin had everything we were looking for: hot shower, good bed, stove, fridge, kitchen supplies. And the meals that Michael, the owner, prepared for us were really top-notch. Fascinating to talk with Michael about he's able to live here so remotely with his wife and 2 children. We LOVED it all!

We had the best time at Avens Alaska. We stayed in both a yurt and a cabin and both were clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. If you go, get the food add on, the meals were delicious and nourishing. Both the meat eaters and vegetarians were super happy with their meals and the service provided. The setting and hospitality couldn't have been better.

This place is amazing! Stayed at Orion's yurt and we have never had such a nice place in the wilderness. Comfortable, clean and with great hosts. Get the food package since there is no where else to eat (although you have a stove and small refrigerator.) The food Michael prepares is wonderful!

Our family of five had a fantastic time at this cozy and welcoming lodge. We stayed in Raven Cabin, and it was just right for us. My family rented bikes and enjoyed hiking, despite some rainy weather— it just made the snow capped mountains more beautiful when it cleared. We really appreciated the screened in porch! The food was amazingly good and excellent service. They accommodated our vegetarian/pescatarian needs perfectly. (They even made our kids homemade cocoa with fresh whipped cream at breakfast!) I loved not having to order — just show up on time to wonderful food. Highly recommend this unique and memorable stay!

Simply loved this experience. Mike and Victoria are wonderful hosts and offer the lodger a great experience in the Alaska wilderness. Another staff member worthy of mention is Rachel (seasonal worker) - she was incredible. So engaging and helpful. Very much appreciated all her involvement and her leading our hike to the lake aft of the property. The Alaska Cabin was spectacular - clean and comfortable. We felt at home the entire time. Thanks too, to Eddie and Danielle, for their help and conversations. Jake (3-legged dog) was a joy to have around. Enjoyed the cabin porch and campfire. Would absolutely return.

My wife and dear friend, Alan, visited this extraordinary lodge with me in late May 2026. We had the most memorable of visits. While the lodge is quite hard to reach -- be prepared for gravel roads - and isolated from "civilization," the rewards it offers for those to seek it out are great. Extraordinary food, well-appointed accommodations, delightful hosts (the lodge is family owned and operated) and easy access to the profoundly beautiful Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve. You will be so happy to you took the time to visit explore the park, and this wonderful remote lodge. Highly recommended.

The location was magical with snow all around. Plenty of trails to explore and views of mountains. The cabins had all you needed and made it easy to be without plumbing (winter time only). The kitchens were well stocked and plenty of bedding. But the Best part was the hosts. They were so accommodating and checked in with us several times to make sure everything was going well.

We stayed in the Raven cabin which was cozy, comfortable and had everything we needed. We had no issues preparing our meals with the kitchenette. Bed was extremely comfortable, shower great, and heater kept us toasty. It was a perfect base camp for hikes off of Nabesna road. Mid September has amazing fall colors that we enjoyed both on our drives and daily hikes. Mike and Victoria were great at communication leading up to and during the visit.
