* This charming resort absolutely won us over with its adorable decor, thoughtful room layouts, and exceptional staff service. We stayed in an oceanfront room with a private pool—the size was perfect, offering both comfort and privacy. A few tiny opportunities to make it even better: - No in-room phones (we used our mobiles for internal calls—minor but noticeable). - The dining options, while decent, didn’t quite match the excellence of other amenities. With a little refinement, the food could elevate the experience from great to extraordinary. That said, these were small notes in an otherwise wonderful stay. We’re already dreaming of our next visit

We had high hopes for this hotel, and while there were definitely some lovely aspects, overall it didn’t quite meet our expectations. The hotel itself is very beautiful and perfect for photos, but it is quite secluded. While they do have their own massage services on site, it’s far from other massage places, restaurants, and main attractions. Getting around can be tricky and quite expensive unless you’re comfortable hiring a motorbike. We were traveling with our toddler, so we relied on songthaews, which added up even for short trips to nearby beaches/restaurants. It would be really helpful if the hotel offered a shuttle service for guests wanting to explore. The staff were polite but generally seemed unfriendly — not many smiles or any real sense of happiness. It didn’t feel like the warm, welcoming service you hope for on holiday, which was a bit disappointing. There was also a noticeable language barrier at times. With a bit more customer service training, there’s definitely potential here. Breakfast was okay, but most options felt quite heavy for a morning meal. It would have been nice to see a few lighter or more Western choices for some variation. The Wi-Fi was quite slow, which made streaming or even browsing online a bit frustrating. On the bright side: - The complimentary mini bar was a lovely touch, with plenty of snacks and drinks restocked daily. - The food at the restaurant and through room service was good. - There’s a gorgeous beach just a few minutes’ walk away, and the hotel offers free kayaks to explore. A note on Koh Kood itself: It’s much less developed than bigger Thai islands like Krabi or Samui, which was actually quite refreshing and felt more real and untouched. Just don’t expect to see 7/11s or big convenience stores, it’s mostly small local shops. If you’re traveling with young kids, I’d recommend buying essentials like nappies and wipes in advance while you’re still in Trat. It’s one less thing to worry about once you’re on Koh Kood. Overall: If you’re traveling with young kids or prefer not to rely on a motorbike, you might be more comfortable staying somewhere more central with more restaurants, massage spots, and nicer beaches nearby. But if you’re after a quiet, scenic spot that’s beautiful for photos and don’t mind a bit of extra travel, this place could still be worth considering.

About the best hotel we’ve stayed at for quality v great value. The hotel is immaculate and you can see how much effort the staff make to keep it clean and looking great. The smallest of touches make all the difference. The pride and management taken to make this hotel look 4/5* is there to see. Room: We had a basic villa and it was fantastic. Good size with a very comfortable large bed. So clean and looked new. Hotel: Just an amazing location in a small bay. The beach bit is very small but makes you feel you’re in a tropical paradise, which you are! The area from the shore is grassed and stunning as is the pool. Staff: Brilliant, friendly, attentive. Area: There are two stunning beaches around the corner accessible by kayak or by walking through the hotel that’s being built (almost done, no noise). you walk through and the beach opens up and it’s just pure, fine sand with shallow, clear water! Breathtaking. A great italian restaurant a quick scooter ride back up the road (called Heaven). Bang Bao beach / bay a 5 min scooter and that’s stunning. Food: Don’t usually for the hotel restaurants but ate here twice out of the 3 nights. Superb thai food!! A full on 10/10 experience. This was our first time in Thailand. We really wanted a resort that was comfortable, clean and above all quiet and peaceful. The Hideout exceeded our expectations. We have never encountered such caring and courteous staff at any hotel in the world. The hotel was luxurious and clean and the service was top-notch. Nature, peace and quiet in the surroundings. You can really relax here; it is a true paradise. The staff took care of us even before we arrived and when we experienced problems during the trip they offered their help. We lack the words to convey the impression the hotel made on us. The meals were of a really high standard. The only thing we can say is that up to now we cannot wake up from the real dream we experienced during our stay at Hideout. We are already planning our next holiday for next year and hope to spend some more time in this wonderful place. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
