Jen Singapore Orchardgateway by Shangri-La

Second time staying here, and it's still a wonderful experience. The room was exceptionally clean, and the check-in process was super smooth. The front desk service was professional. I added breakfast to my booking, and the payment was effortless. The breakfast certainly didn't disappoint. While the selection isn't massive, everything is fresh and leans towards a Western style, which easily satisfies most needs. The yogurt selection is fantastic with all kinds of flavors. Plenty of options for cereal. The hot Chinese breakfast choices are limited, but they offer two types of congee that are fresh, an abundance of side dishes, and authentic Singaporean pork floss. There's a huge variety of super fresh fruit. Various salad greens and dressings. Milk, juices, and even ice cream. Smoked salmon. Cakes, pastries, including local specialties like pandan cake and pandan mantou. The coffee beans are also of good quality. Room housekeeping was prompt and thorough; the tap water is filtered and ready to drink directly. The bed was very comfortable, too. The view was nice as well. The location is unbeatable and incredibly convenient. The MRT station is right downstairs—you don't even need to go outside. There's also a 7-Eleven right at the station exit.

This hotel offers fantastic value for money. To the left of the main entrance is Exit B of Somerset MRT station, and to the right is the entrance to Orchardgateway—hailing a cab here is super convenient. The hotel lobby is on the 10th floor, but there is reception staff downstairs, making it very safe to enter and leave. Right downstairs, you'll find a wide variety of dining options, department stores, souvenirs, and more. The breakfast buffet has a great spread, similar to the Shangri-La Singapore... it truly lives up to being part of the Shangri-La chain.

Pros: All the staff were friendly and provided great service. The room was spacious and clean, and the pool area was very pleasant. Cons: The body wash had a melon-like scent, which wasn't to my taste.

The room is a bit on the small side—guess that's on me for traveling on a budget. If you're on the side of the bed near the window, the AC blows directly on you constantly, but it's too hot without it. Also, the AC runs on motion sensors, so it shuts off when you leave the room even with the keycard left in the slot. This means you don't come back to a cool room and have to wait about three to five minutes for it to chill down again. Great location and convenient for getting around.

Arrived on a late-night flight. The two closest elevators from the subway stop running at 10 PM. We wandered around the mall for half an hour and finally found the main entrance after asking a staff member. Then we went up to the 10th floor to check in. I was almost at my breaking point at that moment. The hotel should really inform guests that after 10 PM, you need to find the main entrance to get to the 10th-floor lobby. Other than that, everything else was pretty good. The location is convenient, the mall is huge with lots of food options, and the Chinese supermarket downstairs sells cheap water.

Although this hotel is a bit old, the bed in the king room is really huge, and there's plenty of space even with a child. Plus, it's incredibly convenient – the subway station and a mall are right downstairs. It's super easy and hassle-free to get anywhere you want to go.

We arrived at the hotel around noon and were given our room right away, allowing for an early check-in. The room had power outlets that didn't require an adapter for charging, and they even provided toiletries for children. The room itself was quite spacious, with enough room to fully open our luggage. The hotel has direct access to the subway station and a shopping mall downstairs, and there's a Ya Kun Kaya Toast right outside. You can take the subway directly to near Mandai and transfer to a bus, which was super convenient for getting back from the Night Safari in the evening. The subway also goes directly to the Merlion area. Although it was suggested that places like Fort Canning were within walking distance, it was simply too hot to walk for even 10 minutes. The rooftop pool has a kids' section, and you can see the Marina Bay Sands in the distance. There were Chinese-speaking staff available, and they even offered coffee to-go in the mornings!
