Gal Oya Lodge

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Cannot fault anything. Team were very attentive. Boat Safari was brilliant. Early morning bird walk was great we saw so many birds. We had a private plunge pool which allowed us to retreat when needed. The mail pool is also lovely. The Bungalows was perfect in every way. Definitely a highlight of our trip

Recommendable in every way! The separate lodges are very private and ours (family hut with two bedrooms and private plunge pool) was very spacious. The staff was super mind- and helpful, seemed to always be there when we needed something but not there when we preferred privacy. the naturalists were very insightful. Food was good even if not the main reason to come here. Only backdraw: 45 minute drive to the park entrance.

OMG! What a stunning location hiding in the Jungle! If you want the height of a luxury atmosphere whilst being able to truly experience the setting of the jungle then look no further! We could have spent so much more time here & can’t wait to return to explore its full list of experiences. The individual lodge rooms are stunning & so well thought out, leaving you wanting for nothing whilst still being at one with your jungle surroundings. Whilst this was one of the more expensive hotels we stopped at on this trip, the value for money was priceless. Cleanliness was excellent, especially considering the natural environment. Meanwhile, the ability to constantly hear all the wild animals around you really made the noise levels quite magical. The staff, & particularly the General Manager could not do enough for you & really offer an exceptional level of service & to offer the level of amenities right in the middle of the jungle is incredible, particularly the 24/7 pool!

Wonderful ecolodge that strikes a perfect balance between comfort and connection with nature. Beautiful rooms and grounds, great staff, and knowledgeable and personable in-house guides. The semi-outdoor bathrooms were a particular hit with my child.

We loved our stay at Gal Oya! The lodge is a beautiful place to relax after your drives and walks and the pool is perfect to cool down! The staff were really kind and helpful, and our guide was very knowledgeable. The food and service were outstanding. Our room was spacious and clean -really felt like we were in nature! We really enjoyed the drives - they were much quieter than at Wilpattu and the very busy Minneriya. The landscape in the national park is stunning and we saw plenty of wildlife. We also really enjoyed the guided walk from the lodge with our amazing guide - we saw a wide variety of birdlife and the sunset on the lakeside was stunning. The boats on the boat safari were smaller than we had expected but we enjoyed it nonetheless- we saw plenty of birdlife. It was great to see the park from a different perspective, and the breakfast on the lakeshore was delicious.

07/04/2026 (04th of July 2026) We had the best experience here at Galoya Lodge. Loved the greenary, wildlife, the plentiful food and the very friendly and knowledegable staff. Your Manager was so good, he knew everything about the animals and vegetation here. We did enjoy having early morning walks to the closest Rathugama (?) Wewa where I was able to experience the most enchanting, calm and quiet village life with cattle, water birds, lotuses in the wewa (tank). We thoroughly enjoyed the boat ride at Senanayake Samudraya. It was such a lovely experience having got the chance to watch many wild elephants, water bird habitats & beautiful sunsets! We would definitely share this lovely experience with our family & friends and encourage them to visit this beautiful place. From the moment we arrived we were wildlife spotting. We saw palm squirrels and a mongoose and the staff told us about them as we checked in. The resort itself is stunning. The main lodge is fabulous. It feels so thoughtfuly designed and is perfect for socialising. We met a lovely group of friends that were traveling together and the main lodge and pool area made it easy to meet other guests. Our room (7) was on the fringe of the property and was great. The design of the villas is bright and airy with fantastic outdoor space and an indoor outdoor bathroom which was great! The villa had everything we needed including fridge air con etc. The wildlife was incredible. We saw giant squirrels, elephants, crocodiles (on lake trip), incredible birds, bats. We did the night walk and saw scorpians, frogs and other insects. Given that our 8 year old daughter was very enthusiastic with the torch and not entirely quiet, I was surprised we saw as much. The guide was very patient. Speaking of guides, it is all the staff that really make this place so warm, friendly and so efficiently run. Their kindness to our daughter was really appreciated and every staff member made our stay memorable. The food was exceptional and the f and b staff were great! I can highly recommend this lodge. I left feeling connected with nature and truly relaxed. Thank you to everyone at Gal Oya!

A beautiful lodge surrounded by nature. Luxurious yet tastefully furnished bungalows. Excellent food; the restaurant even has a bar. The boat safari is well worth it, and otherwise you can simply enjoy the natural surroundings and the exotic atmosphere. The helpful staff here make this experience perfect. The Signature Lodge with a private pool is well worth it! You absolutely must go there!
