Anantara Chiang Mai Resort

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort is a riverside retreat designed by Kerry Hill, converted from the former British Consulate dating back over a century. Combining Lanna aesthetics with colonial vintage textures, it offers a truly unique ambiance. Situated right by the Mae Ping River, the hotel provides a tranquil escape amidst the hustle and bustle. It's just a 5-minute walk to the night market and a 10-minute stroll to Thapae Gate in the Old Town, with Warorot Market also within very convenient reach. Its location holds a distinct advantage among high-end resorts in Chiang Mai. The iconic reflecting pool and the long swimming pool surrounded by water lilies make it effortless to capture sophisticated, high-end photos of light and shadow. The historic consulate building has been transformed into a restaurant; having breakfast or afternoon tea on the riverside terrace is a delightful experience. The breakfast selection is extensive, and the Northern Thai dishes are consistently well-executed. All rooms feature a suite layout with private balconies, showcasing a warm and restrained design utilizing teak wood and bamboo grilles. The Anantara SPA enjoys a great reputation, and guests can also book Thai cooking classes.

I fulfilled my dream of staying at the Anantara Hotel for 3 nights! To sum it up, it was a 120 out of 100-point experience! The welcome drink we received at check-in was incredibly delicious, and the hotel's interior felt like a sophisticated art museum, which was truly impressive. The beautiful lobby, spacious garden, and large pool lifted my spirits! Our room was a suite with a river view. The interior was exquisitely beautiful and made me feel very elegant. Anantara isn't just about the beautiful architecture; the hospitality from all the staff was outstanding and truly exceptional. The breakfast, in particular, left a lasting impression. Not only was the food delicious, but the staff's attentiveness and service were superb. Since it was a 3-night, 4-day stay, we made sure to spend plenty of time enjoying the hotel's amenities, but the luxurious time flew by quickly. I would definitely love to stay here again when I visit Chiang Mai.

An amazing experience! We enjoyed full butler-style service from start to finish, and the check-in briefing was exceptionally detailed. Even the welcome light bites felt thoughtful and far from perfunctory. The room was spotless and tidy. I'd especially like to give a shout-out to the restaurant staff, P—the service was wonderfully attentive and provided great emotional value. Truly a fantastic stay!

The public areas of the hotel are beautiful, and they even offer daily activities. The room layout was comfortable and quite spacious. My only slight dissatisfaction was having only one sink, and both the toilet and shower rooms were very small. I had mentioned it was our anniversary in advance, and they even folded an elephant towel for us and gave us a bottle of wine (though we didn't drink it). There was a small incident: I left some clothes behind at the hotel. Although the hotel had my email and WhatsApp, they didn't notify me. Luckily, I realized it while still in Chiang Mai. I contacted Ctrip to help communicate with them, and they confirmed they found the clothes, so I went to pick them up myself.

A beautiful hotel where three friends had a wonderful time. We were very satisfied with the Lanna Suite; it was spacious and grand. The hotel is close to the night market, yet the surrounding area is quiet. The breakfast wasn't quite to our taste; although everything you'd expect was there, the flavor was just so-so. It's a shame we couldn't book a spa session at the hotel!

This hotel's reputation far exceeds its actual service and hospitality. The room was mediocre, with a weird green scent, and the shower stall was barely big enough to wash in! The pool was nothing special. Riding on the coattails of Jay Chou's fame, a 3000 price tag is absolutely not worth it. The location is also inconvenient, making it super difficult to get around for food and shopping. My partner even got food poisoning from the breakfast and had diarrhea for 4 days and 3 nights. I forgot to take pictures of the room. The first image shows the view from the so-called garden room.

I personally think this is a great hotel. It has a Western restaurant that's popular for Instagram, but it's honestly not really necessary – it felt a bit gloomy and the food was expensive. However, the breakfast was excellent, the staff provided great service, and the gym was also good.

Everything was great except for the room key malfunctioning twice. The pool was comfortable and there were plenty of dining options nearby.

Anantara lives up to its reputation. It's the top hotel in Chiang Mai, situated right by the river. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is excellent. The 36-meter pool is beautiful. I highly recommend the IV drip wellness treatments at the hotel.
