We almost didn't book ‘because we weren't sure what a "palazzo stay" actually meant in practice. Best decision we made on this trip! Lorenzo, the owner, met us at the door himself. Not a receptionist, not a manager — the man whose family has lived here for generations. He showed us around, told us things about the house that you'd never find written down anywhere, and by the time we reached our room we already felt like we'd been coming here for years. The rooms are beautiful in that specific way that only real historic places can be — nothing feels designed to look old, because it simply is. The park is enormous and completely peaceful, which feels almost impossible given how close you are to Milan. Lorenzo recommended a restaurant for dinner that we would never have found on our own. No reviews, no Instagram presence, just extraordinary food and a room full of locals who clearly knew something the rest of the world didn't. We went back the following night. This isn't a hotel in the way most people understand the word. It's something quieter and rarer than that. We're already talking about coming back in autumn.
