Glamping at its best! Our family stayed in the gorgeous, ensuite tents with heated bathroom floors. Everything was perfect. The gourmet food was amazing from breakfast to dinner. Can't wait to return. I hope they continue to add more activities and hone their attentiveness to details.

We didn't know what to expect and thought that the hotel would be full of faded hedge fund managers. I mentioned this to one lady and she said that her husband was a hedge fund manager, but he was not yet faded! Still, the resort is pleasantly underplayed. The emphasis is on personal choice and individual guiding. If you wish to fish on your own or with another, that is fine. I had my own horse for the week and graduated from debutant to gallop in about 10 hours of riding. I also shot the rapids in a kayak, fished for one full day and 3 half days and had numerous massages. It was great. The restaurant is good, bur not 5 star. That is actually just right, as 5 star would not fit with wilderness. The menu each night was very nice. They had chosen the best BC wines, but at the cost of the resort, which with tip is around CDN$3,000 per day, they could have had a few others. We could have whatever we fancied really, but you only realised that after a couple of days. We had a full week there and that would be what we suggest. In and out in 3 days is bit quick and it may mean that you don't get good enough weather to fish for salmon offshore from Tofino. We ended up with about 120 lbs of salmon, which was prepared and delivered to our home. It lasts a long time, but is wonderful!

Our Family's second visit to Clayoqout and we couldn't have been happier! Not often do you revisit a resort and you are overwhelmed by the adventures and the resorts incredible and over the top improvements! Then New Ensuites are Fantastic and made us feel like we where at the Ritz, Wow those beds are amazing. You are really in the middle of Nowhere and the food is simply amazing, I sat at the Bar all but one meal just to see how Ryan (The Head Chef) creates such culinary excellence meal after meal. For those who wish to visit make sure you venture outside of your world and experiment, yam and coconut soup now that is crazy and pure bliss. The staff is superb and my wife and kids cried as our float plane lifted out of the pristine waters of the Bedwell River! Now I just got to figure how to get back AGAIN.

How does one begin to put down on paper a review of a place when there are no words adequate to convey what one finds there? I could list 100 adjectives yet this would still be entirely insufficient to capture what you will experience on a visit to Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. After struggling with this over the past couple of days since arriving home, I have had to settle on the word "magical". I have traveled quite extensively and have been lucky enough to stay in some very unique and magnificent places. Many times, I have had my breath taken away with the beauty of the location or the comforts of the accommodation but, without a doubt, the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort tops the list. What is it that makes Clayoquot Wilderness Resort so magical? In my mind, there are five keys to understanding this. First, the natural beauty of the location. Nestled on the shores of Clayoquot Sound where the fresh waters meet the salt of the sea surrounded by towering trees provides a magnificent backdrop and a wonderful starting point for the folks that created the little piece of heaven that now exists there. As those of you with boat only access to your cottage will appreciate, the additional work that goes along with having no road access is repaid with the tranquility that comes with being in a remote location which is a rare commodity in our world. I hesitate here to put the next two keys in any order because each has everything to do with your experience. I have chosen to speak of the Clayoquot staff first because I'm concerned that in putting it third might somehow underrate this aspect and be interrupted as "nice and friendly staff" which does not come close to the truth while the third key, the "camp" itself, is easier to explain. To get back to the people….words like friendly, warm, welcoming and knowledgeable all come to mind but there is much more to this. Every single contributor - from John and Adele, the visionaries of Clayoquot and the couple that manage the resort, to Ryan Orr the amazing executive chef, to Tereza Roux the thoughtful sommelier, to all of the expert outdoor guides who make every adventure you choose to take absolutely incredible, to others who ensure every aspect of your stay ticks along smoothly including Kathy and Donna and to all every single person serving in the Cook House who greet you each day and are so attentive, were a delight. Companies struggle to devise compensation plans and employee policies aimed at providing the right incentives to motivate employees and so often fail and even those that succeed do not achieve what they have achieved at Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. I think the answer must lay in the fact that everyone there is truly happy to be there and, while they all appreciate the impact they have on their guests, there is something much more fundamental guiding them than simply pleasing the guests. It may just be the fresh west coast air and scenery but I suspect much has to do with John and Adel

Upon arrival a member of the welcome group dragged my backpack with my fleece on it on the floor, not caring much. Not a good start, then we were sidewashed, as if we werent there at all. Bear in mind this is an upmarket resort. Then had to 'fight' to get onto the horsecart, that made us feel very uncomfortable-a resort staff should have stepped in to sort people out. Upon arrival we were left with no choice of drinks, but one! The setting/scenery is amazing, food superb with minor mistakes (food allergy), open bar with great selection, waitresses were rather ignorant on occasions. Our table was dirty quite a few times, at one point it took us 10mins to get the attention of a waitress! That changed though when a gentleman was our waiter. Activities are well planned, a bit careless on occasions, ie. going out on the ocean fishing in complete fog(couldnt see a meter!) Guides and restaurant staff could do with a bit of training. Native staff were amazingly knowledgable and friendly. It is a remarkable family run resort, wish they also treated it as a business and found that great balance between.

As soon as you arrive at Clayoquot, you feel part of the family. The staff are knowledgeable and warm. The location is breathtaking. The food is some of the best I have ever tasted. Just being here is both immensely calming yet the vastness of the surroundings leaves you feeling slapped in the face by Nature. In fact I'm finding it really hard to summarise just how it feels to be at Clayoquot - the experience is peaceful yet stimulating, down to earth and yet heavenly. It is a place that is very hard to leave but that will always stay with you.

CWL is a very special place. I had been wanting to visit for several years and was concerned I would be let down once I actually got there. I was wrong- CWL exceeded my expectations in every way, and it was so much more than a "fun vacation". CWL is really about connecting with nature. Of course there were the fun activities and luxuries - absolutely delicious food and wine, massages and heli-hiking with glacial immersion (which I highly recommend). But for me it was about the nature... Have you ever heard silence? It was a beautiful thing. I was sad to get home and listen to the lawn mowers next door. And, when was the last time you saw the stars? I would highly recommend CWL and hope everyone has the opportunity to disconnect, and experience the raw beauty there. I feel very fortunate to have been able to visit; and am thankful for Sarah, the GM, and all of her lovely staff who are stewards of the land. I was genuinely touched by them all.

This stay was brilliant with loads of different fun activities waiting to be discovered just around the corner. Moving on the itinerary and service were both amazing. The food was exquisite with a variety of different dishes. The rooms are very luxury but the sofa beds for children are a tad uncomfortable. Also the activities were great fun such as canyoning, horse riding, wildlife boat trip, rock climbing, E biking and bridge jumping but my personal favourite was definitely canyoning and I 100% recommend this activity as it is great fun.

I called to make a reservation last week for 7 days in August. The reservation agent acted like I was annoying her and never even sent me the price quote for the reservation. I never had anything quite happen like that It was hard to understand her as she seemed to be mumbling rather than talking clearly. The who experience turned me off to making the trip. We had been excited to go from aspen to vancouver island but after this experience we decided just to extend our stay in aspen another week. Honestly for a $35,000 experience they need to do far better. It made me doubt the quality of their whole operation. I’ve been to king pacific lodge at that was such a good experience that I thought I might enjoy this but I’m OUT.
