Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu

Excellent stay! Great environment and service, and the breakfast was fantastic. The location is absolutely superb, directly opposite the Covered Bridge at Jiuyan Bridge. It's a beautiful spot, with the bridge right downstairs and plenty of bars nearby. Highly recommend.

The room was clean and odorless, well-equipped, and the breakfast offered a rich variety. They even gave me a 'national treasure' during breakfast! 😄

I stayed on the 19th floor. The shower water pressure was quite low; you had to stand right under the showerhead for the water to reach you, and the hot water was inconsistent – it would switch between scalding hot and cold if you turned it up. The sink drained very slowly; it took ages for the water to clear after brushing my teeth. The Wi-Fi was terrible; I couldn't even get the login page to load, it just showed an error. I had to go down to the 2nd-floor lobby to connect, but when I got back to the 19th floor, the internet was so slow. It took minutes to refresh apps like Dianping or WeChat. **Watching a video meant 10 seconds of playback followed by 20 seconds of buffering.** I called the front desk hoping the engineering department would check the equipment, but they just thought it was my phone's problem and offered to send someone to check my phone. Thanks, but if I can't connect or load anything and it's constantly buffering everywhere else, then yes, it might be my phone. But if the problem only exists within the room, isn't it obvious it's a network equipment issue? Also, the room curtains were manual, the sheer curtain didn't pull all the way across, and the mini-fridge door wouldn't stay closed... Now for the good points: The view from the Shangri-La is arguably the best. The river is right in front, with an unobstructed view of Jiuyan Bridge. Lan Kwai Fong, a popular spot for young people, is right next door. You can get to Taikoo Li in about 5 minutes by bike. However, if you need to go further, taking the subway isn't very convenient, but thankfully, taxis in Chengdu are quite cheap. Secondly, the overall service quality of the staff was good. I didn't book breakfast, but when I asked if I could try it for one day, they happily accommodated. Upon check-in, I received some Chengdu specialty 'drunk peanuts,' candied fruits, and 'baba gan' oranges.

We were upgraded to a river-view room, offering a spacious view and a fantastic night cityscape. The hotel's location is excellent, peaceful yet central. The staff's professionalism was top-notch. Overall, a superb stay.

Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu (Taikoo Li branch) - A fantastic stay! My stay here was absolutely perfect! The hotel boasts an amazing view of the Jinjiang River, allowing you to enjoy the river scenery and the beautiful night lights of Anshun Bridge right from your window. It's also a convenient 15-minute walk to Taikoo Li, making dining and shopping incredibly easy. As an established five-star hotel, the quality is consistently high. The room was clean and spacious, and the L'Occitane toiletries added a touch of luxury. Daily housekeeping was thorough and thoughtful. The Sichuan cuisine at 'Shang Palace' was authentic and delicious, and the breakfast offered a wide variety of options. The heated swimming pool had crystal-clear water, and the service was both warm and professional. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Chengdu!
