Chongwenmen Hotel（Near metro,Tian’anmen Square,Wangfujing,Forbidden city And Temple of heaven）

This hotel was destined to be an experience from the moment the front desk handed me two toothbrushes at check-in. Its antiquated decor and unique odor definitely put it on my list of unforgettable hotels. 1. The room had an unpleasant smell, and the furnishings were outdated. There were no charging ports on the nightstands, no master control switch for the lights, and the air conditioning only adjusted fan speed, not temperature. These were minor issues, but the antique bed felt like it might collapse under my scrawny body, creaking incessantly. I was afraid to even turn over at night, worried I'd wake my companion. 2. The bathroom had no toiletries, just the toothbrushes provided at check-in. It was a wet-dry separation, but with a shower curtain! I actually froze for two seconds when I saw that curtain. Perhaps prices in the capital truly are different from elsewhere? Is this the standard for a 500+ yuan hotel? I must be too poor... 3. The showerhead had very low water pressure, and the hot water was barely lukewarm, taking a long time to heat up. I had to let it run for a while before it got even slightly warm, making showering a chilly experience. The drain was covered by a mat – remember to kick it away when you shower. This mat is important! 4. As I slept, the smell grew worse and worse, to the point of making me gag twice in the middle of the night. After some thought, I went to the bathroom to reposition the mat over the drain, and finally fell asleep amidst the stench. Oh, and the pillow was uncomfortable, leaving my neck suspended uncomfortably. 5. Check-out was before noon, but at 11:30 AM, when we returned to our room, our key card no longer worked. We waited seven or eight minutes before a staff member came and opened the door for us. As for positives, yes, there are some. The location is excellent, close to attractions and shopping districts, and right next to a subway station, making transportation very convenient. The price is indeed more competitive than nearby options. It really depends on what you're looking for.

The only outlets in the entire room were old-fashioned ones under the TV and at the bar counter; there were no charging ports. One of the beds creaked loudly every time I moved. The room layout didn't match the pictures; the first image on the booking page showed a full-length mirror, but the actual room didn't have one, and the bathroom layout was also different (pictures 4 and 5 were from the booking page). The service was terrible. I ended up switching to another hotel, which had much better service and facilities. There's a reason for the low overall rating here.

This hotel is conveniently located near Chongwenmen Subway Station, with the New World Department Store just around the corner. Even late at night, there's still a lively atmosphere with plenty of local life. The hotel also offers parking. You can even choose a room with a view of the China Zun building.

The location is excellent, very convenient for hospital visits as it's within walking distance. It's also very close to Chang'an Avenue, so if you have the energy, you can take a stroll. Beijing Railway Station is also nearby, right by the subway entrance. The bedside area could use some improvement, though; more power outlets would be great!

Terrible check-in experience: The front desk was in disarray. I went to extend my stay and get my room card updated in the morning. The first female staff member at the front desk said I had to wait until 12 PM to do it. Then, another male staff member told me I could update the card anytime. Two different standards at the same hotel. On top of that, the invoice was frequently wrong, and I inexplicably received calls urging me to check out... I tried to contact the front desk to speak with a manager to resolve the issues, but I couldn't reach anyone. The lighting in the room was extremely poor, and the only power outlet in the room was broken, so I couldn't charge anything. The front desk offered to move me to another room, but it was smaller than the one I booked, and there was hair from the previous guest on the chair. Extremely disappointing.

Great location! The subway station is right next door. It's an old, well-established hotel, so the facilities are a bit dated, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The Temple of Heaven Park and Tiananmen Square are also very close.

The location is fantastic, surrounded by a bustling and lively area, making it very convenient for getting around. The valet parking and shuttle service are also great. I stay here every year.

The mattress was incredibly comfortable, thanks to the partnership between Trip.com and Xilinmen! The four pillows on the bed were also great, offering different materials like buckwheat and memory foam – even better than what you'd find in a five-star hotel! The facilities are a bit dated, and the TV is old, but the location makes up for it. It's close to Metro Lines 2 and 5, and there's a bakery and Maxim's right downstairs!

Facilities: Terrible. I checked in at noon, and on the 14th floor, there was a broken wall panel in the hallway, revealing pipes inside. The shower pressure in the room was extremely low, making showers take three times longer than usual. The curtains weren't blackout, so I woke up with the morning light. Absolutely awful. Cleanliness: Terrible. The bathroom had a foul smell wafting up from somewhere. Unbelievable. Environment: Extremely poor. The ceiling on the 8th floor was too low; I'm 1.8 meters tall, and the ceiling was roughly 1.9 meters high. Service: Awful. The front desk staff were incredibly slow and inefficient. In summary, it's probably a state-owned enterprise, occupying a prime location, and seemingly hasn't been renovated since 2007. It's just like many struggling old state-owned companies with their 'iron rice bowls,' indefinite contracts, no reward or punishment system, and no mechanism for correction or supervision. They clearly don't care about guests like us out-of-towners booking rooms; they just want to take your money.
