This was our stay for my husband’s birthday, and we were really touched to find complimentary cake slices waiting for us in the room – such a sweet gesture that made the occasion feel special!
First off, the staff were all really nice and welcoming, which we truly appreciated. The room itself was spacious, and at first glance it looked clean enough. The location is great too – super convenient being close to 7-Eleven and malls, so getting around or picking up things we needed was easy. Breakfast was decent overall; most dishes were good, though we did get lechon paksiw both mornings we ate there (it actually tasted better on day two, haha!). We were just hoping there’d be a salad bar or some dessert options to mix things up a bit.
That said, we have to be honest about the maintenance issues – they were pretty hard to overlook. When we first walked into the lobby for check-in, there was a strong moldy smell instead of that fresh, clean scent you’d expect from a hotel. The carpet leading to the elevators had a noticeable odor, like pet urine that hasn’t been properly cleaned – honestly, if they can’t keep up with maintaining carpets, it might be better to replace them with something easier to care for.
We also found a dead insect on the elevator wall with its insides scattered there. I immediately let the front desk know because I was worried about potential health issues it could cause; they thanked me and said they’d take care of it, but it was still there the whole time we were staying, right up to checkout day. Even in the room, while the CR was clean on the surface, my husband said the shower floor was way too slippery – it felt like it hadn’t been deep cleaned in a while. We also spotted cockroaches in the bedroom and near the CR, the AC unit was covered in dirt, and the curtains had a lot of dust built up.
What really bothered us is that they charge guests for basic items like slippers and laundry bags. With how neglected the facilities seem to be, these should really be provided for free.
Sadly, with all these upkeep problems, we don’t think we’d stay here again when we come back to Bicol. It’s a shame because there are good parts to the hotel – they just really need to invest in proper maintenance to make it a comfortable place to stay.
