The Orient Jakarta, a Royal Hideaway Hotel

I particularly loved the hotel's library; it had a really artistic vibe. The spa within the hotel was also great. The infinity pool on the fifth floor has a lovely setting, and the atmosphere at night is fantastic – perfect for a drink, enjoying the breeze, and a chat. The hotel lighting was a bit dim, and there was no magnifying makeup mirror, which was a bit inconvenient for women who need to do their makeup. Breakfast options were limited. There's a mall about a 10-minute walk from the hotel with lots of Indonesian local food choices.

Extravagantly luxurious with incredible attention to detail; there isn't a single bare wall in this beautiful hotel.

This is a really unique designer hotel that I think is a must-try when you visit Jakarta. It's so much more interesting than those cookie-cutter chain hotels, and the price is actually quite reasonable. On the fifth floor, there's a gym and an outdoor infinity pool with a fantastic, chill atmosphere. I particularly regret not spending more time relaxing at the gym, which I only discovered on my last day. The hotel staff are also very enthusiastic and proactive in solving any issues. I'd definitely recommend tipping, as Indonesia is undeniably a tipping culture, and many service staff here have low wages and rely on tips for part of their income.
