Avon Old Farms Hotel

Hidden charges and awful front desk assistance and closed recreational facilities

This hotel is in immediate need of reinvestment. It was built in the 50's and it looks like in the rooms that was the last time any money was spent. You have a small in the window air conditioner unit. The two night stand lights did not work. The safe did not work. The hair dryer did not work but the front desk provided a new one. The bathroom sink was stained or dirty. To flush the toilet you have to stand there and hold the flipper down until the toilet completes flushing. The ironing board had been bent at some time in its history so it sloped down went set up. There was no elevator so you carry your belongings up an old metal outside staircase to the second floor. This hotel is in an excellent location and the exterior looks wonderful. But I would recommend that you stay elesewhere.

The facility was lackluster at best. It used to be great. Eco friendly was claimed for not doing daily room service. Hypocritical. There were paper plates, plastic serve where, and poorly working HVAC units.  The organization was simply looking to cut down on costs. Similarly, I’ve seen better breakfasts at hotels that cost half as much. Vents in the bathrooms were nonfunctional. The window could only be closed from the outside. I look forward to posting this on yelp unless you make amends.

I mentioned to the Avon Old Farm Hotel staff that I was very disappointed with the many malfunctions, including: the desk phone had no power, the TV wasn't connected, so Netflix wasn't available. They charge me more than what was expected in my itinerary sum total was suppose to be $239. Not $280. They need to reimburse all of my payments.

The room was definitely dated. Toilet seat looks like it has never been replaced since the property was built. So worn. Terrible. Plumbing fixture was rusty on the sink. The spout for the tub was pitted. Wallpaper was torn. Looks like it could very well be updated - some renovations are way overdue.

Beautiful property and complimentary breakfast on the go made our stay memorable, looking to coming back in the future.

Large room, comfy bed, great breakfast. There’s an odor that’s either from smoking or an air freshener trying to cover up the odor that is a bit strong. Our room was non smoking and it was fine but the hallways smell a bit.

Only complaint is that the toilet seat in the bathroom is very very low. Lower than average.

The refrigerator was not plugged in, and then when we did plug it in, it did not work. The front desk said we could not get a new one at that point, but could change rooms....after we unpacked and settled in. not very convenient. There was no literature in the room of amenities or breakfast times, we missed the buffet. Some simple things to offer as we paid a fee for daily services, but received none.
