Last Word Long Beach

It was probably the best place we ever stayed at. Location sublime. Staff sublime. Food sublime. Location sublime. We hope to come again one day.

This boutique hotel is located right on the beach. Access is subtle and unimpressive via a large sliding metal security gate but once inside it is relaxed and comfortable environment. There are only six suites and they appear to be similar in size and appointment, two upstairs and four below. We had room four which was accessed directly from the lounge area. It had its own private balcony overlooking the beach. Others offer less privacy with a shared terrace by the pool. It was slightly awkward walking past them to access the pool, but the weather was a little too cold for swimming so we only went once. The breakfast was spectacular, everything you might wish for bought to the table, then hot food ordered from a menu. Dinner was lovely, lots of local fish all delicious. Check out the local calamari. Staff were faultless ever willing to please. The open bar was a real delight.

This is a wonderful quiet hotel ideally situated on a beautiful white sand beach. The view is spectacular from our room (first floor suite) as well as from the restaurant and balcony. Staff couldn’t be more friendly and can’t do enough for you. Food was good, your order your selection in the morning as this hotel appears to be almost fully inclusive with breakfast and dinner included as well as your drinks (including all but premium whiskey and brandy’s). There are two tables at the front of the restaurant that have the best view and these are on a first come basis. We managed to sit there most breakfasts ( as we are always early) and actually on 2 evenings as we actually eat later than many who seem to eat at 6 or 6:30 and vacate the restaurant by 7:45pm). The hotel has 6 beautifully appointed rooms and honestly the difference from the standard room and the suite is marginal to say the least, the big difference being the view as two rooms have uninterrupted views of the bay and the mountains opposite. It is fair to say this is a hideaway in a quiet area with not a huge amount to do except relax and enjoy the environment (if you have a car of course you can go to Cape point or to see the penguins on Boulders beach - honestly the later is a bit disappointing as you pay £25 to walk down a deck to take a picture- ok but given so much else around you just didn’t seem worthwhile). From the hotel there is a great easy walk to a shipwreck in the next bay. Simply walk out the hotel into the beach, turn right and walk for about 1.6 miles. The beach is amazing although a lot of kelp has washed up during a few of the winter storms and stays on the beach which slightly spoils the overall view (it’s marginal). For anything else like a coffee you can come out of the hotel and turn left towards the lighthouse (worth a photo as the sun sets). The coffee shops are set back from the coast path although we didn’t try out so I can’t comment. Overall this is a great quiet hotel that delivers on everything you could ask for.

The property is absolutely beautiful and has such a warm, inviting and homely feel. The breathtaking ocean views, cozy fireplace, incredible attention to detail and, of course, the décor oh, the décor all come together so beautifully! Everything was simply stunning. From the gorgeous rooms and uninterrupted ocean views, to the delicious food and wine, cozy spaces and all the thoughtful little touches, every detail made our stay feel incredibly special. There is something so lovely about being able to curl up by the fireplace while taking in those beautiful views - it really is the perfect combination of luxury and comfort. Brandin, Candice and Jeff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay extra memorable. Their warm hospitality really added to the wonderful experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with you and can't wait to return. Thank you again for making our stay so memorable. We absolutely loved it!

We are super grateful to have found The Last Word! This boutique property offers just six beautifully appointed rooms, creating an intimate and effortlessly refined experience. The service level is stunningly bespoke and accommodating. In terms of value, it stands head and shoulders above many top-tier Cape Town properties we’ve stayed at. Most properties in Cape Town that command 2-3x the price only deliver a marginal improvement in service compared to The Last Word. Most meals — including breakfast and dinner — are included in the rate, and The Last Word never compromises on quality. The food is consistently excellent: generous, beautifully prepared, and full of flavour. We spent much of our time unwinding on Long Beach, one of Cape Town’s quieter stretches, frequented mostly by surfers. Peaceful, scenic, and wonderfully understated — the perfect complement to an exceptional stay. I’ll let the pictures speak for itself.

From the minute we arrived every member of staff we met were friendly , helpful and always happy, the location was fantastic the food likewise, would gladly visit again. This was the second last word property we have visited and would highly recommend both . We are already looking towards our next trip

Last Word Long Beach is a fantastic hotel. Situated at the beach you can always hear the sound of breaking waves. The rooms are big with high-quality furnitures. The staff is service minded and always helpful. We had unforgettable days at this hotel

The location is outstanding with a fabulous aspect to the pure white beach and mountains beyond. The staff were brilliant and the food was lovely. The only negative comment I would make would be that the property needs a little bit of TLC in the bathrooms - need updating / refurbishing which would then very much justify a 5 star rating.

From the minute we arrived at the Last Word we knew we were in for a treat! The location is breathtaking and the welcome incredibly special, which set the tone for our two day stay. Our super luxury comfy room faced the ocean and the bold and beautiful decor, was both inviting and exciting. Meal times were the best as the food was delicious, wines sublime and service impeccable. Brandin and the team could not be more helpful and I can't honestly say that we had an amazing getaway. I highly recommend the Last Word Long Beach if you want to get away from it all and be spoilt rotten.
