Dudley Nature Resort

This is a strong recommendation against booking Dudley three house. We arrived in the evening after a four hour drive. We had only driven there so that we and our children could see the tree house. When we arrived, the owner's father was there and he wanted to inform us that the tree house, despite us having booked and paid for two nights, was unfortunately rented out to others. We were hugely disappointed and got another room. The internet did not work and I later tried to get help, informed by the father that we had to move rooms the day after because someone else was going to have the room you had been given. I am shocked and said that it could not be right that we had to stay in two different rooms and even rooms and we had not even booked in the first place. The next day at breakfast Dudley's son had come and he started by asking me why I had shown his father a picture of a different room than the tree house the night before. Then it was clear that his father was confused about where we were going to stay. Quite a subtle and unpleasant way to make me feel that the mistake of overbooking was mine. Told him that it was definitely not our fault. However, it was maintained that we had to move our room today, as a new booking came in who had booked for 3 nights and we had only booked two after all. There was more money on the others than there was on us. We were speechless. It is unpleasant to arrive here after four hours of transport that we have been looking forward to so much and then we have met a calculated over booking strategy and the customers successfully advise against using the hotel and booking Dudley three house because you can in no way expect that you will be allowed to stay in the cabin in the tree. We got a refund for one night and left. Will newer come back.

Habarana is a useful place to stop. While the centre is just a cross roads with shops and restaurants, it is a useful base for getting to Sigiriya, Dambulla and Polonnaruwa - although all require private transport. Habarana is also connected to other cities by bus and train. Dudley's nature resort is a short walk from the main road, far enough not to hear traffic. A beautiful piece of landscaped woodland, well maintained with attractive plants and some stylish and well-maintained rooms. We had the tree house - large and peaceful, accessed by rickety steps through the tree. The balcony was a great place to relax. Another great place to relax was the large swimming pool with sun loungers. The furniture is mostly made from rough-hewn, varnished branches giving a rustic feel. Breakfast was a range of sweet and savoury pastries, fruit, eggs and juice with tea or coffee. Optional dinner varied each day from simple rice or noodles to a wide ranging barbecue to a lavish curry buffet (a cooking lesson showed us how to create the latter!). Most guests opted to eat dinner here in a family-style outdoor restaurant. Dudley and family run this place with a close eye on detail and it is being extended. He arranges outings and transport as required so this really is a one-stop shop. Thank you for having us.

I was assisted by Dudley ( owner)in booking a tree house in July and I made a deposit to secure my reservation.My July holiday has to be cancelled because of my personal circumstances. I phoned Dudley ( owner)the next day and asked him to cancel my reservation. He did so and promptly returned my deposit. Dudley ( Owner) is an honest man and I will definitely visit his hotel next year.

Dissapointed Stayed 1 night, the hotel didn't love up to its reviews. Lovely pool area but the overall hotel was a let down, not very clean.

For the money Dudleys is a good place to stay, it’s peaceful and the pool area is lovely and relaxed. Dudley and his staff are very friendly and they try to make your experience enjoyable. The food is really good and if you want to see Elephants or get a massage then it’s all nearby.

Dudley guesthouse is a true paradise in Habarana. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and an excellent host, Dudley, who will go out of his way to make your stay unforgettable. Very nice pool! Amazing tree-house!
