InterContinental Bordeaux - Le Grand Hotel by IHG

The hotel's location is exceptional and incredibly convenient. It's directly across from the Bordeaux Opera House, making it easy to walk to many of Bordeaux's attractions, including squares, churches, and old streets, right from the hotel. The hotel itself has a rich history, and its indoor pool is a definite highlight. The breakfast restaurant is small and cozy, with charming window seats. A tall gentleman who seated us at breakfast was particularly nice and friendly. The guest rooms were also clean and tidy.

I originally planned to stay for just one night, but I loved this Bordeaux hotel so much that I spontaneously extended my stay for another night. The staff were very warm and responsive. It has a classic, old-money charm that felt incredibly comfortable. Definitely the best choice for accommodation in Bordeaux.

Thanks to the hotel for upgrading me to a suite. Unfortunately, it faced a small courtyard and was on the second floor, making the entire room quite dim. I couldn't tell if it was sunny or cloudy outside from within the room. However, the room itself was excellent, and the furniture was beautiful and comfortable. If I plan another trip to Poreč, I would definitely stay at this hotel again, but I'd request a room not facing the inner courtyard. Also, the bathroom lacked a small shelf for a phone; one should be added near the toilet paper holder. The coffee machine and water heater were both great. I'd suggest replacing the single power outlet with a dual one, as currently, there's only one outlet for two appliances, meaning you have to constantly unplug and replug when switching between them.

Because we were a couple, one adult and two children, we couldn't fit into a regular room, so we booked a suite. The exterior is beautiful, in the bustling area of Bordeaux. However, we were given a second-floor suite. Anyone who's stayed in an old European hotel knows that the second floor was originally a warehouse, with low ceilings and small windows. You can see the building just two meters away. ☹️ When booking, I requested a higher floor and a better view, but they completely ignored it. The decor is dated, and I had no desire to take photos. The only toiletries were Byredo, but I don't like the scent. 😭 I won't stay at this hotel again.

Excellent breakfast and the skilled care of the concierge staff stand out. In particular, the food at La Pressoir d'Argent Gordon Ramsay 2-star restaurant and the sommelier's recommendations are excellent.

Great location, very nice. The room was spacious and nice. The breakfast was a bit disappointing. It's in the city center, so it's convenient to go anywhere👍
