AVOID THIS PROPERTY. They double billed me and claim they have no record although I have sent them my credit card statement which clearly has a charge. Refused to refund. Manager has ignored me.

We were upgraded to a two bedroom suite. Yay! But - neither of these rooms were cleaned! Housekeeping did not come to our room AT ALL during our 2-night stay. Even after I visited the front desk in person to complain after the first night and was assured my room would be made up that day - it was NOT. When I returned to my room that afternoon and found the bed not made AGAIN, the towels on the floor AGAIN, the trash not emptied AGAIN - called the from desk* to complain AGAIN and was told the housekeeping staff were all gone for the day. The best he could offer was to have clean towels brought to our room. Gee, thanks. *There were two phones in the room. One was completely inoperable. The one I used to call the front desk was so bad I could hardly hear the clerk. I know we don’t use hotel phones much anymore but, if you’re going to keep them in the rooms, they should at least be in working order. Horrible experience for this Silver member.

Certainly NOT up to Marriott standards! Poor outside lighting, thread showing worn furniture, simply dated and tired...

Beware!!! Don't assume if you have a reservation that you have a room when you arrive!!!!! We booked a room about a month ahead and upon arrival were told they had booked us about 15 minutes away at a lesser hotel because they could not accommodate us "due to extended stays" and overbooking, We chose this hotel because of its location so had to change our plans and with kids that isn't so easy. IF you are going to force someone to change hotels at least send guests to a hotel that is a step up not a step down, This isn't the first time I have had issues with Marriott properties. I have a Marriott Bonvoy Card so am very disappointed!

We brought our teen grandaughter with us so that she had privacy with a sleep sofa in another room. It was rather hot outdoors pretty early in the season. I noticed a few postings about the syestem AC and some rooms having window ACs. Our system had problems with the AC and fan and compressor going on and off withing a few seconds constantly. It was best for us to super cool the room and let it warm up so that this fan and compressor issue would happen less often. My other complaint I blame corporate because that is the only answer that staff could offer was a "corporate change". There are no ice machines on the floor so that I could fill a small cooler daily when we left each day. I was told that I could make ice in the room freezer but that did not work. I was also told that I could grab some pre made bags in the freezer in the small food store. However, those bags were grabbed up very early in the morning. My alternative was to use the soup dishes in the kitchenette and freeze water in the bowls overnight. This is how we did it for the rest of our stay.

I spent the past weekend at the Residence Inn Mystic Groton while attending a wedding in the area. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the stay was and how the hotel overall exceeded my expectations. The hotel is older, and has some challenges with curb appeal. There were a few bulbs burnt out in the parking area and overall the exterior could be spruced up a bit. My first impression left me a little apprehensive about how the stay was going to go. I checked in through the app and got sent a mobile key. The key would not work so I had to go to the lobby for a physical key but I think it was a problem with my app since I shared the mobile key with my wife and hers worked fine. We were placed in a large corner room which, to my surprise, had a whirlpool tub which I was not expecting. The room itself was extremely clean, this hotel room was probably one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have stayed in. I saw nothing that would make me question that the room was not cleaned thoroughly. There were no hairs on the floor, no crumbs in the drawers, all the kitchen items were spotless, the towels and bed linens were bright white. The bathroom was immaculate. Even the whirlpool tub, which I did not use, appeared clean with no built up gunk around the jets or drain that you sometimes see. I am really impressed with how clean the room was. I also should mention the room we were in was right next to the stairs/entrance and I was concerned it would be noisy but the room was very quiet. The only two minor issues I saw with the room was the bed skirt was too small for the box spring and the front of the dresser was damaged at the bottom. The public areas of the hotel were also very clean. As an older hotel I know it is hard to keep everything looking clean but the staff here does a great job from what I saw during my stay. I had a couple of interactions with the front desk staff and both times they were friendly and efficient. Other staff were pleasant and smiled and said hello when they passed by me. One thing that could be improved upon was the market in the lobby was not very well stocked, it appeared they were out of some items, they had beer but no wine, and no water when I went to purchase some one of the evenings. Some shelves were empty. It would have been nice to have a better selection of things to purchase. Overall though, this stay was great and I was really impressed at the overall cleanliness of the property. Way to go housekeeping department! I would not hesitate to return to this hotel if I return to the area in the future.

This Hotel exceeded my expectations. The reservation agent accomodated our group of 22 (11 children) efficiently. The rooms/suites were very clean and spacious. Breakfast was good, kids loved it. There was an important international Soccer game on in the time we were there so we sort of took over that TV area in the lobby, the kids were playing too. The staff was very patient and kind. We only stayed one night to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary but we were minutes from the Mystic attractions which gave us a memorable celebration with family. We would definitely go back.

I want to preface this by saying, the regular staff I dealt with were all nice and courteous to us. There was only one person of the staff I had an issue with. Unfortunately, that one person was a manager, which might explain some of the other problems we had at this hotel. We stayed for 3 nights, in one of their 2-room suites, so our kids could have their own bed. We chose housekeeping every other day. The pool area is hot. The pool water is hot. We liked it. Clock in the pool is busted. Again, a detail that management should have already fixed. The room was in pretty rough shape. In one bedroom there's a desk with a chair; the chair was broken. The phone in that room wouldn't dial out to the front desk. The bed was rock-hard and hurt me and my wife to sleep on. In the other bedroom the bed was in better shape, but the shower didn't drain properly; the drain plug was just hanging out, unattached. At one point a toilet backed up, and I went for a plunger -- there was none. Had to walk down to the front desk and ask for a plunger. Again, staff was nice, I asked the maintenance guy to just leave the plunger outside our door (I wouldn't ask the staff to unclog a toilet FOR me!) and he did. Plunger wasn't even the right size for the toilet, so it didn't make a good "seal". My wife's sitting there laughing incredulously, as I smush the thing into the toilet to unclog it. Anyway, later on Day 3 we run out of clean towels, all trash bins are full -- housekeeping never showed up. So again, I walk down to the front desk and say we need trash taken out and clean towels. I hear the manager call out to her front desk staffer -- easily within earshot of me -- that housekeeping already went home for the day. It rubbed me the wrong way that instead of the manager stepping out to tell me that herself, she stayed in her office and let her staffer take the brunt of the complaint. So again, I was nice, front desk lady was nice, they sent up bedsheets and towels, and the same maintenance guy came up to take out one of the trash bins. On the way back up, I got a few drinks from the "market" behind the front desk. Half the drinks, while not expired by date, were definitely expired by taste. So I wouldn't recommend using that either. Our saving grace is that the price point was OK, and it was only a 3-night stay. Some good points to balance this out...? The window A/C units in the room worked well. Worked better than I thought they would; rooms actually got a little cold with them on. The bedding itself (not the mattress) was comfortable. Pool area was hot, so if you like hot, that's a thumbs up... their breakfast was ok, I'd say it met expectations for a hotel at that price point. It was quiet in the hotel itself; no problems with any other occupants. If you're visiting Mystic, be aware that cell reception in this area is poor -- and if you order dinner from DoorDash / Uber Eats in the area, your driver's location will probably cut out on y
