Gubei Water Town William Edgar Hotel

The facilities are a bit dated, but the service is excellent. It's right next to a Western restaurant, making it very convenient to step out. The outdoor pool is closed in the winter, but dining is super convenient with plenty of restaurants right at the doorstep.

The room was extremely large and spacious, with a separate wet and dry bathroom. Hot spring vouchers were provided as a complimentary perk. Gubei Water Town in autumn is simply breathtaking! The red maples, Boston ivy, sculling boats, and the layered shades of gold and green leaves are just stunning.

Facilities: The windows are quite small. Perhaps because the hotel was renovated a long time ago, the items in the room seem a bit old. There's a balcony that you access from the bathroom; I didn't find it at first. It's nice for enjoying the view and a breeze. Cleanliness: The cleaning is just okay; acceptable if you're not a neat freak. Environment: It's located within the ancient town, which is great for enjoying the night view, and getting around is quite convenient. Service: There isn't much to say about the service; there aren't many staff members.

I've stayed at the William a few times now. The location is great, the rooms are spacious enough, and the service is good. There's also an outdoor pool in the backyard.

I've already left a review. The name of this hotel reminded me of William Edgar, the American photographer and expert who first came to the Great Wall of China and introduced it comprehensively to the world.

Gubei Water Town, a 6 billion RMB investment, replicates the architecture of Wuzhen. The hotel is five-star, adorned with numerous old photos commemorating William Edgar's Great Wall journey. The staff offers warm and enthusiastic service, the dining is high-quality, and the rooms are comfortable. The outdoor pool is perfect for children to play in.

The room is very spacious and the bed is super comfortable. There were no issues with the room, and all the facilities were great. Since the hotel is located inside the scenic area, getting there is a bit inconvenient. I arrived rather late, and after making the reservation, no one from the hotel contacted me to provide check-in instructions. As a result, I spent a long time in the parking lot trying to figure out how to get to the hotel. A heads-up for future guests: you need to take a shuttle bus into the scenic area to reach the hotel, and the shuttle pick-up point is by the roadside of the parking lot. Being inside the scenic area, dining options at night are quite limited. After 11 PM, you can barely find anything to eat.

Aside from being a bit pricey, everything else was perfect. The outdoor pool was excellent; I hadn't swum in an outdoor pool for many years. Going just before closing time meant I had the pool almost entirely to myself. The location is also in the core area of the Water Town, so nothing is far away.
