The hotel staff were great. It was mom’s weekend and the hotel was packed. The staff everywhere in the hotel were helpful and friendly.

The staff is excellent. The mattresses we had were sagging and desperately need to be replaced. There were not any cotton balls, q tips, or shower caps. The bar is excellent and the food. The windows are perpetually dirty for some reason

The walls seemed thin and we heard the neighbors closing their shower door. There was a strange man banging and yelling in the elevator shaft - a worker? Entering the hotel from the parking garage removed a bit of charm. The coffee shop attached was out of business. We had a half roll of toilet paper and no Kleenex in the room. A lot of small odd things added up to a not great experience.

The fitness area was clean and had plenty of equipment and space to utilize it. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming. Tish (check-in) was kind and helpful. Amy (also check in) was VERY helpful & went above & beyond. The restaurant however, was much less impressive. The food was adequate & portions fine both afternoons we dined there. The coffee is unimpressive to blech status. The cake topper however, was the dinner host’s response when asked about the menu item. I inquired about the Coho salmon entree. He had no clue what ‘coho’ meant and shrugged his shoulders. He even said, “huh, I have no clue” and meandered off with his messy hair & untucked shirt as if he’d just rolled out of bed. Maybe this is just Lawrence KS, since we’d never visited this town. Interesting first experience here. The rooms shower water pressure was minimal. 5 stars however for covered parking and close proximity to campus and Mass street.

Terrace was closed… cookie shop was closed… frustrating for sure. Booked the room connected to the terrace thinking it was open

This the first and only hotel I've stayed in that really has rooms for people who are handicapped or have physical disabilities. I'm wheelchair bound and I had more than enough room to freely move around everywhere, including the bathroom and inside the shower. I could easily roll in there and bathe. I have no complaints about room or staff. The staff were easy to deal with, very friendly and more than helpful. I can't say enough about the entire establishment and staff. 10 star treat and and service.

The staff was very friendly upon arrival. Easy access with parking garage (additional $25). Great dining and bar area. Breakfast was very good, I had the breakfast pizza, which was on point. Rooms were small but very nice and clean, bathroom was excellent. Historic building and fun atmosphere.

This is my second stay at The Oread. It's a lovely hotel, and the staff is amazing--kind, helpful, responsive. It's the attention to detail in the rooms that made our stay kind of disappointing. For example, we needed to use the iron, and the ironing board literally fell into pieces when I took it out of the closet (where the holder that attaches the iron and board to the wall in the closet was broken and unusable). The bolt holding the legs fell out, and the apparatus to adjust the height was broken. The body wash in the shower hadn't been filled. The fitted sheet wouldn't stay on the bed, and the handles on the shower and tub seemed broken. The wireless charging on the lamp by the bed didn't work. None of these were really serious, but taken together, they made it just feel like the beautiful rooms don't get the attention and upkeep they deserve. Add the $25 per day parking fee, and I'm just not sure I'll stay here again.
