Katathani Phuket Beach Resort

This is the best resort I've ever stayed at in Phuket. The direct pool access room allowed me to watch my kids play from my balcony lounge chair. The aquatic playground in the pool kept the kids entertained for hours. There's a restaurant, spa, kids' club, and everything you could need. A 7-Eleven is just a 2-minute walk from the hotel, and there's a shuttle service to take you anywhere within the resort. It's truly a place where parents can relax while their children have fun.

Before booking, I was worried about potential discrimination and misleading photos based on the reviews. However, after seeing so many hotels with negative reviews, I still decided to give this one a try! First, let's start with the conclusion: 100% satisfaction! 💯 Firstly, I had emailed in advance asking for a specific room, based on a guide I saw on a social media platform. The hotel's reservation department replied, saying they would try their best to accommodate my request. When I checked in, I asked the front desk, and she said they would try to arrange it based on room availability upon presenting my passport at check-in, and that room numbers couldn't be pre-booked online. Secondly, regarding the room: the three of us booked one room due to safety concerns. An extra bed could be added, but we didn't add one; instead, we used the sofa bed, which was about 1 meter wide – perfectly fine for one person. (We booked for three people; if you book for two, you might have to pay an extra fee at the hotel). Room environment: it was indeed a bit humid, but closing the window and turning on the air conditioning made it much better. We did see a few ants, but not many, so it shouldn't be an issue if you don't leave food out. Regarding room types: the very popular room online, with views of the pool and the sea, is the Grand Suite (in the Thani Wing). You can tell from the photos, so make sure not to choose the wrong one. Enry at the front desk even wrote down the English name of my preferred room type and told me to remember it for next time so I wouldn't make a mistake. She was super nice, communicated patiently, and there was no discrimination whatsoever. We communicated for a very long time due to the language barrier, but she remained patient throughout! Next, the food: breakfast was included, and there was a wide variety! Definitely worth the money! If you want a good view by the railing, go to the restaurant early. If you don't mind the seating, a waiter will guide you to an empty table anyway. After we checked out, we played in the pool and on the beach until evening. One of the restaurants had just finished renovations, so we quickly booked a spot. However, the tables right by the sea were already taken, so if you want a good spot, book in advance! (Breakfast and dinner are served in two different places, by the way). Finally, the environment: it's right by the beach, with fine sand and very blue water, better than Patong Beach, which I visited later. If you don't swim, staying in the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort pool is safer. There are several pools, and many foreigners bring their kids, so the experience was great! Everyone was so polite, oh my goodness! Ordering drinks was also very convenient. You can scan a QR code by the sun loungers to order drinks and light meals. The prices for drinks felt similar to outside, maybe a tiny bit more expensive 🤏, but within an acceptable range. As for dinner prices, we ordered three dishes, which was enough. You could tell the ingredients were fresh. The grilled pork ribs, or whatever it was, had more meat than what we bought at the night market, so paying 30 baht more was actually quite worth it. In summary, Katathani Phuket Beach Resort is very worthwhile and comfortable, and the staff are very nice! I loved everything. This was my first stop in Phuket, and because of it, I've decided I'll come back again and choose this hotel again in the future. Part of that is also due to the front desk lady I mentioned earlier; honestly, even I would find it hard to be as patient as she was. Finally, regarding 7-Eleven, there are two nearby. The one you can find on Google Maps is a bit far, about 10 minutes away. There's another one whose location I don't know how to describe, but you can ask the staff; it's very close to the breakfast restaurant, about a 5-minute walk! We also luckily saw a beautiful sunset; the next evening, clouds blocked the sunset, making it a little less perfect. A very good experience, I wrote a lot here, haha!

Our stay at the Kata Thani Bhuri Wing's family room was an absolute delightful surprise for our family trip to Phuket – the experience was simply outstanding! As soon as we entered, our child was captivated by the room. The bunk beds, designed like a submarine, were incredibly playful, and the entire wall featured an ocean-themed 3D decoration with dynamic blue lighting, making it feel like stepping into an underwater world. Our child immediately claimed it as their secret hideout, spending the whole day playing in their little space. The room layout perfectly understood the needs of families with children; the kids' play area and the adult bedroom were separated by a soft partition. This allowed us to relax and watch shows in the master bedroom while our child played independently, ensuring privacy yet still being able to keep an eye on them. The space was bright and never felt cramped. The most amazing feature was the direct pool access from the balcony! In the evening, we'd put on our swimsuits and step right into the crystal-clear pool from our balcony. The row of macaron-colored resort buildings, outlined by warm lights, and palm tree shadows dancing on the shimmering water, created a truly relaxing atmosphere with the island breeze – even the breeze exuded a sense of laid-back vacation. The bathroom facilities were also thoughtfully designed. The large, standalone bathtub was perfect for soaking away the day's fatigue from looking after the child, and the wet and dry areas were clean and well-separated. All the facilities were new, without any of the wear and tear you'd expect from an older hotel. The hotel's public pool area was incredibly family-friendly, with clearly defined shallow and deep sections, and plenty of lounge chairs and shaded spots everywhere, so we could rest whenever we got tired from playing. The staff would proactively greet the children and offer small cups of iced water, providing thoughtful yet discreet service throughout our stay. This was the first time I felt no fatigue whatsoever during a family trip with my child; it was truly a 'lie flat' parenting experience. We will definitely come back to this family-friendly hotel on our next trip to Phuket, and I highly recommend it to all families vacationing with children!

The hotel is huge and divided into three zones, with some small shops right outside. The kids' pool has plenty of amenities, but there are often lines at breakfast. Occasionally, there were a few bugs, the children's area lacks greenery, and there is construction on the hillside behind it. Overall, the rooms are very spacious with great facilities.

The hotel's scenery is indeed breathtaking, and the newly opened Vana Nava Water Jungle adds a lot of fun. However, the breakfast was really not great; it filled us up, but the taste was lacking. Restaurants and massage places near the hotel are also more expensive than those around Karon Beach. Two days here is probably enough to get a good experience. Also, we didn't encounter any dampness issues in the room, perhaps because we southerners are quite experienced in dealing with spring dampness.

⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ Families with children, beware! This hotel was a huge disappointment, the online ads are heavily filtered, and the actual experience was far worse than expected. I do not recommend it for Chinese tourists! We moved here from the Pullman and booked a two-night stay in the Bhuri Wing family room, but the overall experience was terrible! Here are the specific issues: 1. **Significant problems with front desk service, staff member 02-Pearl had a terrible attitude.** She maintained a grim expression throughout check-in and offered no basic greeting. I specifically requested *not* to have an end-of-corridor room, but despite available rooms in the middle, she still assigned me room 2622, which was an end-of-corridor room. Room 2622's decor was noticeably inferior compared to other rooms of the same type: 1) There were hairs left on the children's bed, and the furnishings were worn out; 2) The bathroom only had a curtain for a shower partition, with no separate wet and dry areas; 3) There was no countertop for the sink, so nowhere to place toiletries. When we later moved to room 2634, the difference was stark. It felt like the worst rooms were reserved for Chinese guests! During check-in, Pearl kept sneezing without covering her mouth or nose. When I reminded her, she rolled her eyes. She also asked me to download the hotel's app, saying that once downloaded, I could use room service. However, she didn't explain the full process, which actually required the front desk to generate a room QR code on their computer for scanning and linking. After I downloaded the app, no further instructions were given, so I couldn't use the feature when I got to my room and had to go back to the front desk again. I twice confirmed with Pearl whether the room required a key card for electricity and, if so, requested three cards. She repeatedly assured me that key cards weren't needed for electricity and only gave me two. Upon reaching the room, I found that electricity *did* require a key card, so I had to go downstairs again to get another card, which was a constant hassle. The internet connection was a serious problem: Wi-Fi couldn't connect in either of the two rooms we stayed in. After contacting Ctrip customer service, it took half an hour for a staff member to arrive. He was dismissive, saying it was an IT failure that couldn't be fixed and only offered a staff-专用 account. The internet was extremely slow; even WeChat messages were difficult to send. 2. **Poor in-room facilities.** 1) The refrigerator made a loud buzzing noise all night long; the decor quality was similar to budget chain hotels like GreenTree Inn in China. 2) The sliding door partition in the room was loose and wobbly, lacking stability and posing a safety hazard. 3) The Bhuri Wing is marketed for families, and while the room had over ten hangers, there were no children's hangers, making the family amenities misleading. 3. **Poor public area experience, it stank!** The elevators in this building had a severe, pungent odor that was very off-putting. My child strongly resisted entering the elevator, so we used the stairs for all our trips up and down. Even public restrooms in Thailand smelled better than these elevators! 4. **Extremely poor pool water quality!** Previously, at the Pullman, my child swam in the pool for three consecutive days without any issues. However, after swimming in this hotel's pool on September 2nd, my child developed a sudden high fever of 40℃ that evening. We went to Bangkok Hospital Phuket, which cost 1500 RMB, and my child suffered terribly, lying uncomfortably in the hotel for two whole days. I strongly suspect the pool water quality is unhygienic. Families with young children, please be extremely cautious! 5. **Terrible soundproofing!** You could clearly hear conversations from the next room. Two children next door were incredibly noisy until two or three in the morning! I couldn't sleep for both nights of my stay due to the noise. If you are a light sleeper or have poor sleep quality, choose this hotel with extreme caution! I've stayed in many family-friendly hotels, and any family hotel in China could easily outperform Kata Thani. Kata Thani is the worst! After this actual stay, the gap between expectations and reality was huge. I advise my fellow Chinese travelers, especially families with children, to be vigilant and avoid this hotel!!!

This was my third time in Phuket, and I've always stayed at Kata Thani – always satisfied, as usual. Although this time, when checking into the Bhuri Wing, the first room they gave me was next to a construction site. But after I requested a change, they quickly moved me to a more convenient location. The new building is great for kids; the water facilities could keep them entertained for days, and everything smells lovely. The rooms are clean too. And the beach scenery, well, that goes without saying!

Avoid this place! I won't be choosing Katathani Phuket Beach Resort again. The scenery is undeniably beautiful; the sea view from Katathani Phuket Beach Resort is stunning. But that's where the positives end. Let me tell you what to avoid: 1. The front desk staff at Katathani Phuket Beach Resort has a known reputation for being unwelcoming to Chinese guests and assigning unfavorable rooms. I unfortunately experienced this firsthand. The front desk person was surly and impatient throughout. Two months in advance, I politely emailed the concierge requesting a high-floor room if possible. Even though high-floor rooms were available, they directly told me there weren't any and assigned me a first-floor room with a broken door lock. When I called the concierge to request a change, they said they would check. However, a second later, the front desk called back and very impolitely stated that no changes were possible. 2. The breakfast selection is very limited. Although the breakfast area looks large, the items are mostly repetitive. 3. I booked a spa massage at the front desk. The front desk wrote down the price for me at the time of booking. However, when I went to the spa, the price was double what I was quoted, and they insisted that was the correct price.

Katathani Phuket Beach Resort truly feels like a vacation getaway. The public areas offer stunning views, with lush gardens and pools blending seamlessly with the ocean backdrop. The private beach is perfect for enjoying breathtaking sunsets, creating an incredibly atmospheric experience. Our room was well-maintained, spacious, and didn't feel old at all, making for a very comfortable stay. The breakfast spread was abundant and delicious, with excellent flavors. The staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, it's a quiet and relaxing place, ideal for a slow-paced, laid-back vacation. It's definitely a top choice for couples and families alike.
