Ocean Boutique Hotel

I stayed at Ocean Boutique Hotel after climbing Kilimanjaro and it was the perfect little restful getaway to relax after the climb. The staff are wonderful, the hotel is beautifully appointed and the food was exceptional. I did the half board and had breakfast and dinner included which was a great way to start and end the day. The room was really comfortable and had a balcony facing the ocean. Complimentary bottled water and fruits when I arrived. They also restock the water daily. Great hot water and shower pressure. Nice bath products and amenities in the bathroom. The food here really is awesome and I enjoyed every meal. The chef came out to say hello one night at dinner and the Swahili buffet and entertainment was fantastic. The only downside of the hotel is that it’s a little secluded and you need a car or taxi to go most places for shopping or restaurants. The hotel will arrange a taxi for you but I ended up spending over $250 on transport to and from the airport and to/from Stonetown. I also did a massage at the nearby Bali Resort (which I highly recommend) and also did some shopping in Paje. It was nice to have a quiet place to return to at the end of the day but just be aware that Dongwe is about 1.5-2 hours from Stonetown. You could try to walk to the main road and get a tuk-tuk from there to Paje but it’s still about a 10 minutes walk on a bumpy road. You can also walk along the beach to other hotels for boat tours, surfing, SUP, etc. Ocean can also book you the excursions from the front desk. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. I booked it through Amex Travel and it was a pleasant stay!

Everything was excellent 😀 The room, the bathrom - in fact, the entire hotel - was very clean and well kept! All the staff were extremely friendly, smiling and helpful. The food was fantastic and varied - for breakfast, lunch and dinner! A wonderful location 😀

A small, adults only, Boutique Hotel, that is excellent in so many ways. Firstly, the staff, they always had a smile and seem genuine in their want for you to have an amazing time. From Yacinta at the front desk, to Agustino, Kelvin and Alfred behind the bar and restaurant. From the pool cleaners to the house keepers. Chef Ali is incredibly talented, we did not have one bad meal in the restaurant. Everything was delicious, from the seafood, to international fayre, to Zanzibarian favourites. The best bit, peace and relaxation, plenty of choice around the pool, no sunbed dash and the beach has virtually no hawkers! Beach shoes a must though. Sea Urchins everywhere. Absolutely well worth the money, unlike other hotels in Zanzibar. (We paid appx. €150 per night)

Wonderful! The staff can't do enough for you. The hotel is clean, the rooms are lovely, the view spectacular. From Yacinta at the front desk, to Agustino, Kelvin and Alfred in the bar and restaurant, to Chef Ali and the delicious food, every one really cared for us and wanted to make sure we were having a great time. Even the groundsmen and the housekeepers had a lovely smile and ask about your day, honestly I can't speak highly enough. A great experience, wish we didnt have to leave!

Our stay at Ocean was nothing but tremendous. The hotel is worth every dollar, the staff is just the kindest, the location right on the beach and the facility is clean and well designed.

All the staff were amazing, Alfred, Aisha, Agustino, Carina, Debora, Kelvin, the pool team, the cleaners who kept our room spotless, and those who prepared our beds each night with mosquito nets. Everyone was always so kind and smiling. To anyone I missed, sorry! You made our stay so special. Beautiful location, peaceful atmosphere, and we left feeling truly cared for. Highly recommended.

We had the most amazing week at the Ocean Boutique Hotel for our honeymoon. The hotel is beautiful and right on the beach with every room having a view of the ocean. It is very quiet and a little piece of paradise which was just what we wanted. We had champagne on arrival as part of the honeymoon package and the room was beautifully decorated. Evalyne, Yasinta and Deborah at the front desk were so helpful with anything we needed and organised a surprise dinner on the beach for us which was so gorgeous. They’d put so much thought into it. The hotel, pool area and room was immaculately clean. The waiters and waitresses made our holiday extra special. Augustino, Peter, Suleman, Kelvin, Milka, Alisha (sorry if we’ve forgotten anyone!) were amazing from start to finish and went above beyond. We really can’t thank them enough. Breakfast was a buffet with lots of options, fresh omelettes and pancakes, pastries and cereals. We loved having coffee looking out over the beach. Late morning fresh fruit and cold towels were brought round by the pool. The evening meal was a la carte or buffet and there were lots of choices for us who are vegetarian. The a la carte was 3-4 courses and really gorgeous food. The chef Ally came to speak to us after each meal and all the team who served us on the buffet evenings were so lovely. We had planned to visit other restaurants but the food was so good, service was wonderful and we had a sea view every evening so there was nothing more we could have asked for. The area of Dongwe is quiet so we used taxis to visit other places (Paje was about 15 minutes away) but quiet was just perfect for us on our honeymoon. You could go out on a boat trip from next door to the hotel with the blue lagoon just a few minutes away which was great for snorkelling. I would highly recommend this hotel and it will always be a special place for us. Thank you! ☺️

My family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children aged 22 yrs, 21 yrs, 19 yrs and 17 yrs) had the most wonderful 9 day stay at The Ocean Boutique. From the amazing views, lovely spacious family rooms, to the delicious food - everything was perfect. However, what really makes this place is the people who work there; front of house staff, Evalyne and Yasinta were amazing and so helpful with the many questions I had before we even arrived! Breakfast and dinner was a pleasure due to the service of Kelvin, Solomon, Augustino, Peter, Viscard (sp?), Chef Ali and others who I didn't get names for (sorry!). Maids were also exceptional and cleaned the rooms twice a day. Such a relaxing place with the perfect blend of a pool and then stepping out onto the beautiful white sands of Dongwe beach. The hotel is guarded by Masai which makes it feel very safe. We did several trips, some organised through the hotel (Safari Blue and safari day trip to Mikumi) as well as others to Starfish Beach, Jozani monkey forest, Paje beach, The Rock Restaurant and Salaam cave (to feed the turtles). Great location for walks on the beach when the tide goes out, though wear beach shoes as there are lots of sea urchins! A truly magical experience - we hope to return soon!
