We chose the Residence Inn San Francisco Airport Millbrae Station because of its convenient location, only about a 5-minute drive from the airport. The lobby was clean, and the hotel offered complimentary breakfast.
The breakfast was the same every day, so there wasn’t much variety. However, all the staff working in the breakfast area were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. One of the highlights of our stay was Julian, who worked during the morning breakfast shift. She was especially friendly, always had a smile, and was genuinely willing to help.
Unfortunately, our experience with the front desk was not as positive. I wanted some hot water from the lobby to make tea, but it had run out. When I asked the front desk receptionist if she could refill it, she told me that hot water was only provided during breakfast and did not offer to help. Later, I asked Julian, and she immediately helped us by refilling the hot water. I really appreciated her kindness.
We stayed in a spacious room with a king-size bed and a sofa bed. The room had a small kitchen with dishes, cups, and utensils, as well as a spacious bathroom.
However, when we arrived, the sofa bed was not made. The sheets were in the closet, so we had to make the bed ourselves that night. We noticed stains on the sheets, and my daughter did not feel comfortable sleeping on them, so she ended up sleeping with me on the king-size bed.
The next morning, after waking up, I pulled back the sheets and was shocked to discover dry blood stains underneath the sheets. We immediately contacted housekeeping. The housekeeper came to our room, saw the stains, and said she would return later to change the bedding because she was cleaning another room.
Because I was uncomfortable with the blood-stained bedding, I removed all the sheets and covers from the bed and placed them outside in the hallway. The housekeeper later returned and changed the bedding.
I also reported the situation to the front desk. Although they apologized, I was disappointed that they did not offer complimentary laundry service, especially since the blood had come into contact with my clothing. Instead, I was told that I would have to pay to use the hotel laundry facilities. Given the circumstances, I did not feel that was appropriate.
Another issue was the ventilation system. It made a very loud, strange, and creepy noise every night, which made it difficult to sleep comfortably. My parents’ room and my brother’s room had the same noise, so it seemed to be an issue affecting multiple rooms.
Overall, the hotel has a convenient location, spacious rooms, a nice lobby, and complimentary breakfast. The breakfast staff were consistently friendly and helpful, which we appreciated. However, the cleanliness issues, blood-stained bedding, lack of helpfulness from the front desk, and ongoing ventilation noise significantly affected our stay.
Julian was definitely the highlight of our experience because of her friendly and helpful attitude. Unfortunately, because of the issues we experienced, I don’t think we would choose to stay at this hotel again.
