Beautiful hotel with a jungle garden feel and 3 pools. Restaurant with good and reasonable food and drinks, entertainment most evenings, yoga, spa and an area with activities for families. Maria and Paco are lovely and helpful owners and so is their staff. We enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend this cozy hotel in peaceful Matemwe.

We loved our stay here! It is such a beautiful place and every staff member is so welcoming. The pools are all great and there of plenty of rest areas. The restaurant is delicious. We also appreciated the excursions organized by the staff. Highly recommend, we would absolutely come back.

Salama and Mbuyuni Bangalows is such a beautiful place! The air is so fresh and peaceful, it truly feels like a hidden paradise. The highlight of my entire experience was definitely the yoga. The teacher, who is also the owner of the place, is absolutely amazing. She has such a warm and charming personality, and she takes time to talk to everyone. She made us feel so welcome, like we were at home. We can't recommend this place enough. We already want to come back. William & jackline &Aman.

This place embodies the Zanzibar experience! Cool and relaxed vibe. The owners Paco and Maria are highly energised, attentive and super friendly. Although the resort is not on the beach, this does not matter as you are a short walk away. The inside of the property has a lovely jungle feel, constantly tended by gardeners and staff. Fantastic live local entertainment happens on Saturday nights which creates a great Zanzibar party feeling! All staff are exceptionally kind and gracious, and service levels are higher than anything else I have experienced in Zanzibar. You may feel like a guest on day 1, but by day 2 you will be a friend! I fully recommend Salama to all Zanzibar travellers! We love you and thank you, Asante sana!

This establishment is wonderful! Firstly it has a quirky and beautiful garden which is tended every day with 3 separate but contained areas with their own beautiful pool. The bar area is surrounded by super comfy mini " day bandas" for relaxation. Different levels of accommodation give you good choices. The atmosphere is totally Zanzibarian, and very calm but super friendly.You may make new friends very easily or remain totally private to your liking.Lively and talented musicians play some nights except during Ramadan.The bar and service staff are super! The menu features either Spanish Tapas, traditional Zanzi food and a delicious mixture of either seafood or Veggie and Vegan options. All delicious!. Breakfast is a standard buffet with eggs to order. It is 200m close to a small shopping area and pharmacy. Taxis and bodabodas are easily available outside. The best are the owners/ operators / and managers Paco and Maria who tirelessly make sure everything is perfect. They are really lovely people.We stayed for some weeks but it is the perfect place to base yourself for all the activity around Matemwe. Fully recommended from us as well experienced tourism professionals.

We had a great stay. The entire property is so lush, green and jungely. A true oasis and very well arranged. It is a large ptopery, but thanks to the different areas it doesn’t feel large. Our room was spacious, beds comfy. The fan was sufficient for the nights. Bathroom was small, but sufficient and clean. Wifi was not great in the room, but outside it was well working. The pools are a great plus in the heat of Zanzibar. The breakfast was a bit underwhelming, but there were not so many guests. Staff is friendly. You walk around 15 mins to the beach or local restaurants.

My daughter and I stayed here for a week in September. Maria and Paco went out of their way to make our holiday such a special time. They were so helpful with day trips and giving us so many helpful ideas. The staff are all wonderful and so friendly. Mohammad and Mona took us to visit their village and Spice Farm. We went on the dala dala and back by motorbike. We had a great snorkeling trip with Juma and on another evening he took us to visit Matemwe village. Freddie the Gardner always made me smile. Salma and Maria gave us the most wonderful massage. Salama Mbuyuni bungalows is simply a fabulous special magical place and does not compare to anywhere else I have ever stayed.

The best place to stay in Matemwe owned by Maria and Paco and they will ensure you are having a pleasant stay. Nice place to chill around the pool or at the bar enjoying a drink, very good cuisine offers and properly clean. Staff are very educated and professional. This place is in our hearts
