My wife and I were not only very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and room and the gracious staff, but also the spaciousness of the room. For two people we could have lived here a month instead of the three days we were there; the room would have been perfect for a small family trip or couples getaway. The hotel is super close to the Old Port downtown and everything was just a quick walk. The ease of check in was also a pleasure. What a great value as well. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Portland to stay here.

Such a great, different, non-hotel feeling option to stumble upon when I was in Portland, Maine. GREAT location. Feels much more boutique hotel like, quaint, way more appeal than a big "chain" hotel. I would want to book for more than a week to be able to use kitchen and flexibility of apartment-like feel.

I booked this last minute for an overnight stay in Portland. The room was spacious, very clean and quiet. Great location as well!

What a thoughtfully appointed loft ! The large kitchen was well stocked with everything necessary to cook-up all the seafood you bought at the market. The bedrooms and baths were clean and of ample size. Loved the location, one block from the main retail boulevard and restaurants yet far enough that it was very quiet. Off street hotel parking is behind the adjacent building and abuts the police station garage. The staff were readily available via text when things came up. Would love to go back.

We had an excellent stay. The hotel was beautifully appointed with premium furniture, high-end appliances, and thoughtful finishes throughout that made it feel more like a luxury residence than a typical hotel. The location was incredibly convenient, with easy access to some of the area’s best restaurants, shops, and marinas.

The property is great. The amenities are quality- nothing is cheap… kitchen is stocked & utensils are not flimsy- bedding is nice. Some good touches like under mount lighting in the bathroom that comes on as you walk in- the temperature is easy to keep constant (which is rare in units) it’s very walkable and the parking is easy ($60 per night). Lots of good. The unit itself is very nice. My only complaint is that the furniture is stained and filthy… one chair had caked food and hair (a good vacuuming would have helped) the sofa cushions are broken down & uncomfortable) the bar chairs are very gross and the fabric is stained. They have not appeared to have been cleaned at all… it really is a shame… as an interior designer this is a pretty easy fix. I would love to give them a 5 out of 5. This is just blatant and could not br ignored.

Located midway between the Arts District along Congress Street and the Port District along Commercial Street, this property is very convenient, but admittedly a little hard to find. These are loft units in a building that is otherwise unmarked, situated more like an apartment building with storefronts at street level. But once you find where it is and where to enter, the rest is pretty simple. The loft we stayed in was very much like a large one-bedroom apartment, with a full kitchen, full bath and all necessary amenities. There is a self-parking garage adjacent to the building to park your vehicle (an additional charge), which allows you the convenience of walking to the local sights, shops and restaurants in the area, of which there are many. Overall, a very comfortable stay.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful location. My only note is that the bed and pillows were not as comfortable as I would expect from this kind of boutique hotel. Standard size pillows only, no king size pillows and no lumbar pillows, and a fairly hard mattress with a thin pad. The night before my stay, I stayed in a converted motel for 25% of the Docent’s price that had far superior bedding.

The apartment was beautiful. I would note that there are not black out curtains so it gets very bright starting at 5 am so it was hard to sleep. Also make sure to get a physical key card rather than use the app for the key. The app was unreliable and we were locked out and needed someone to come help us.
