City Hotel Krabi

Booked 3 rooms, but one of them had a clogged toilet. Getting to the rooms was a bit tough with stairs, especially with luggage. The location is great though, with a 7-Eleven right next door. Across the street there's a market, and the evening night market has delicious and cheap stir-fries. Plenty of shops nearby for browsing, and there's a night market in the evenings.

First off, the location is great – right across from the Krabi Night Market and less than a 10-minute walk to the Black Crab Night Market. There's a local mall behind the hotel and a 7-Eleven right downstairs. Now, for the environment, you really get what you pay for. The hotel description says it opened in 1991, and it shows. The sink is right next to the bed, the shower has a fixed faucet, and there was practically no hot water at night. Toiletries were limited to just shower gel and shampoo, along with two bath towels. The toilet seat hinge was rusty. In the twin room, one of the beds squeaked, and the soundproofing was poor – you could hear corridor noise as well as street noise from the other side. As for service, the front desk staff were okay, mainly just handling check-in and check-out. A heads-up for future guests: there's a 500 Thai Baht deposit required. Finally, there were many touts and drivers soliciting business right outside the hotel, which was a bit of a negative experience.
