We stumbled upon this gem when looking for a stop over but wish we would have remained here for our entire holiday. The location was stunning, the history of the property was immense. The manor house was very impressive as was the room we stayed in and the food, I cannot express the fabulousness, the presentation and the flavours were sensational. We will definitely return in the future. Oh and the Hugo spritz is my new drink of choice.

Lovely hotel in an idyllic setting. The character of this building has been beautifully preserved and our room was spacious overlooking the gardens with a huge bathroom. The bed was really comfortable. Tea, coffee and water was replenished daily. This hotel is all about the food. It really is delicious with ingredients sourced locally or grown in the garden. Nothing is wasted. We had booked a package including meals and our meal at the chef’s table was fabulous and a really interesting experience. All the staff are great. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I absolutely love the Manor, it's a beautiful building in a fabulous setting and has been very sympathetically renovated by the new owners. The staff are very friendly and the service we received was great. However the standard of the food at lunchtime on Friday August 28th was very disappointing. I came with my husband and family and we had the 3 courses for £39.50. The crayfish cocktail was tasteless and served on a tiny amount of lettuce with cheap sliced brown bread. The fish pie was tiny and my husband's had water in the bottom, the vegetables which came with it comprised of a sprig of broccoli and one carrot. The redeeming feature for me was the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream which was a good size portion and delicious. At the moment I don't consider what we had to be value for money or high enough standard for this hotel. We stayed here in March of this year and the 3 course dinner was much higher standard and delicious. Maybe there has been a change of chef since then? I would definitely stay here again but I would not eat lunch or dinner here unless there was a big improvement.

Wonderful place to stay and dine. After our late arrival the staff was friendly and very cooperative. We could park our bikes in the Courtyard. First a drink on the terrace to catch the last rays of sunshine. We stayed some 5 years ago and were pleasantly surprised with the renovation of the rooms, building and grounds. All to great standards. The new restaurant and library-restaurant have a top English atmosphere. The food was nice and really above average, however can still be improved to the standard that they promise and want to reach. For now the restaurant price level is too high. The newly decorated room and bed, linen and pillows are top notch.! Tip: a small fridge and Nespresso machine would make it 100% We will surely return. PS Next. We bought the Buckled boots on internet😉

The first time we went here a few months ago, things were generally very good from the room to the food. However when we went again just over a week ago for Sunday lunch, it was a disaster and a total waste of time and money. The wi dows were filthy, dead flies and cobwebs on the shelves and windows. No welcome from staff. I had to initiate the conversation. The starters were awful. The crayfish cocktail was tasteless served with brown and black old lettuce... and there was a lot of lettuce.. you'll see in a previous review about a similar complaint in this starter. Week nothing was done to improve or rectify. My fish pie was pathetic.. Just white fish and haddock.. and about only four small.pieces! Tasteless. The pork was tough. No roasts were available apart from a chicken breast.. that's not Sunday roast dinner! No beef.. no lamb.. nada. I received no apology from management onduty about the lettuce. They ran out of cider,.... then had to go up and collect the bill after waiting over 25 minutes after requesting it. The staff dont smile, dont table touch. Won't be returning.

Deep in the West Devon countryside & apparently named in the Domesday Book , Lewtrenchard Manor certainly enchanted us , oozing luxurious charm, comfort and amazing cuisine.

Had a birthday lunch here to celebrate. Such a beautiful place with a friendly vibe. Staff extremely friendly and knowledgable about the building's story. The garden is really looking lovely. The food was lovely with a really good choice and the drinks menu was great. I recommend the non-alcoholic G & T which was perfect for the baking hot day. A very elegant place but not pretentious.

We had an afternoon tea in the library and it was very nice. We are local and first time we have been back since the refurbishment, They have done it out very nice l, the grounds looked stunning in the sunshine it really was so pretty. The afternoon tea was very nice, would definitely come back again.

We stayed here for 3 days for our anniversary. It was an extremely beautiful hotel set in lovely gardens in the heart of the Devonshire countryside dating back to the Domesday book. It was completely refurbished last year to a very high standard. The food was superb and breakfasts excellent with so much choice. Our bedroom was huge with a modern four poster bed and a very nice ensuite bathroom. The bed was so comfortable and pillows like sleeping on a cloud. It was so peaceful with views from the bedroom overlooking the countryside. Staff were exceptionally pleasant, very helpful and they catered so well for dietary requirements. We thought the prices were very reasonable considering the location and the hotel itself and the standard of food. We will definitely visit again and certainly recommend it.
