Pullman Sydney Hyde Park

Right across from Hyde Park, making it super convenient for getting anywhere. It's perfect for city walks and families, offering excellent value for money. There's also a gym and a small pool on the rooftop, though breakfast is quite basic.

The location is fantastic, very convenient for getting anywhere, and some places are even within walking distance. The front desk staff and service personnel were all very friendly, enthusiastic, and patient. However, the room's cleanliness wasn't great, and there were no toiletries, and they weren't replenished in time. Since I had brought my own, I didn't bother asking for them. The TV was just for show. Overall, it's a far cry from the Pullman standard in China.

Pros: 1. The hotel's location is unbeatable, right next to Hyde Park. It's walking distance to Westfield, the Australian Museum, and the Big Bus stop. 2. For those renting a car, it's super convenient as it's directly an Eurocar pickup point. 3. There are plenty of great eateries nearby. If you're staying here, I'd say skip the hotel breakfast entirely and explore the various brunch spots around. Especially about 300-400 meters from the hotel, there's a fantastic Chaco Ramen place – their Yuzu Scallop ramen is highly recommended! We stayed for four days and ate there twice; both the adults and kids loved it. Cons: 1. The hotel is indeed old, and the facilities generally show their age. This is especially true for the sofa and chairs in the room, which felt a bit dirty. 2. The daily housekeeping service was really subpar; it feels like there's no consistent training. One day they'd toss your pajamas here, the next day they'd put them there... and sometimes, if they felt like it, they'd provide amenities, but if not, even if you were out, they wouldn't replenish them. Used cups also seemed to be placed wherever, without a fixed spot. 3. It felt like there were a lot of Indian guests staying at the hotel. If you're okay with that, then disregard this point. 4. The hotel elevators are very slow, which is particularly frustrating during peak times in the morning when there's heavy traffic!

The hotel environment is acceptable, but the service attitude is extremely poor, and the front desk was dishonest. The duty manager also tried to defend the front desk instead of admitting the mistake. Here’s what happened: I booked two rooms of the same type for this stay. However, after checking in, I found that one room had an openable window, while the other did not. After checking in, I asked the front desk to switch the non-openable room to an openable one. Initially, the front desk insisted that due to New South Wales law, no windows could be opened. But after the guest in the other room pointed out that their window *could* be opened, they then claimed that 90% of windows couldn't be opened. As a hotel professional, the most basic principle is to communicate honestly with guests, which Tina failed to do. Later, I complained to the duty manager, who dismissed it as a “miscommunication,” refusing to acknowledge the dishonesty. This was truly disgusting. I then asked the manager to send an email explaining the situation, but the email also downplayed the issue, which was absolutely appalling. There’s a strong suspicion of racial discrimination here.
