It was my wife’s birthday hotel helped me arrange a special case. I have stayed 5+ times it has becomed very tourist mostly foreigners and my only complaint was little control over etiquette people taking photos and wearing swimsuits

Love this ryokan! Such a gem in winter time with steaming onsen and dramatic snow falling on the river. If you need mental reset, you must come. Great food, super clean place and hospitable people. Highly recommend to bring snacks and your own beverages as there is no cafes nearby. Overall experience is memorable.

It's a very nice place to relax your mind and soul. Having nice meal and nice relaxing onsen, i guess it's low season therefore i notice there are less than 10 guest during my stay.

The lack of a private toilet in the bedroom is quite uncomfortable. The staff was very helpful and polite. The dinner wasn't very good and the portions quite small. However the onsen are beautiful.

We had a nice relaxing stay. For vegans: They can't fully accommodate your dietary but they do their best. In some dishes they use dashi.

Great place to relax. And escape from the city. Outdoor onsen are stunning. Dinner and breakfast is good. Have some dust at the window in the room.

This is a fabulous place for an authentic Japanese holiday. The location is beautiful. The outdoor hot spring bathing area is clean and looks like a movie set. The included meals are generous in portion size and are delicious. Our room overlooked the river and it was great. Tatami floors and shoji screen windows. This is an old and historic place and does not cater to western norms. You sleep on futons on the floor. Only Japanese food is available. But it is a wonderful place to spend some time.
