No wonder it's rated the number one garden! The scenery is beautiful, and the service is meticulous and thoughtful. The hotel facilities are comprehensive, the rooms are spotlessly clean, and the environment is very comfortable. The breakfast is abundant, and the dining area is pleasant. You can even see the visitors on Su Causeway and Leifeng Pagoda from the hotel grounds.

Facilities: Excellent, with everything you need. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Daily Welcome Fruit: They had West Lake lotus seeds, which were incredibly tender and sweet. Hygiene: As a state guesthouse, the management is top-notch, and the place is extremely clean. Environment: Located right by West Lake, you don't have to battle crowds in the scenic area. You can enjoy the stunning West Lake views privately, which is absolutely beautiful. Service: All the staff were professional and courteous, and their service was incredibly warm and enthusiastic.

This hotel is perfect for a trip with parents. Given their generation, they'll appreciate staying at a hotel once frequented by Chairman Mao. The State Guesthouse boasts a prime location by West Lake, and after a early summer rain, it feels like a magical wonderland. The grounds are expansive, featuring various garden landscapes and even a small hill to climb. I'd recommend staying at least two nights! When we visited, they even offered two complimentary photo shoots, where you could pick 5 photos from each. The spot by the arch bridge on the lake, with Leifeng Pagoda in the background, was absolutely stunning! The hotel service was also top-notch. We went after the Dragon Boat Festival peak, and they upgraded our room type. My room also got an upgrade due to a minor drainage issue. Building #8 is very convenient, and the ground-floor rooms with a courtyard are excellent.

The Xihu State Guesthouse truly lives up to its name. The environment is top-notch, with its own expansive garden landscape, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful West Lake scenery right from the guesthouse. Even with limited room availability, the lobby manager kindly upgraded us to a second-floor room with a balcony, which we greatly appreciated. The room service was particularly surprising and impressive. We left for a short walk, and upon our return, the snack box was refilled with biscuits, and our room items had been tidied up. Then, after another brief outing for dinner, the snack box was replenished with biscuits again. We were a party of three, and when we requested an extra set of toothbrushes from room service, they thoughtfully delivered not only the toothbrushes but also slippers that I hadn't even thought to ask for. Furthermore, we received various fresh fruits delivered to our room on both days of our stay. The room also came equipped with a bottle of Tiger Running Spring water. Every single staff member at the guesthouse provided thoughtful and enthusiastic service. It truly is a state guesthouse worthy of its reputation. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends!

I stayed at the Xihu State Guest House for two days, and this place has an inexplicable magic that makes you slow down unconsciously. Just walking by the lake, sitting in the garden, looking at the trees and the water, I barely even touched my phone. That feeling of not having to rush, not having to think about where to go next, was wonderful. I even met up with A Zhe from Xiaowan Travel Photography and took a few relaxed photos in the garden, which I'm really happy with. The hotel service was excellent, and the breakfast was incredibly rich, truly a five-star standard. The only downsides were that the room's Wi-Fi was too slow, and there was no children's pool, while the adult pool was too deep.

A truly comfortable journey! I've been to Hangzhou countless times, and I finally got to stay at this historic state guesthouse, which was never open to the public before! The service was impeccable! They noticed from my notes that I might need extra space or a sofa bed for my child and proactively offered an upgrade to a family room in Building 2 at a discounted rate! The room was spacious and comfortable. West Lake is just around the corner! The guesthouse grounds have many memorable spots worth visiting, and it even has its own pier, so there's no need to brave the crowds outside. I booked a table at Ziwei Hall, which was incredibly elegant! The daily afternoon tea was also very generous, and the staff were excellent. Any issues I raised were promptly addressed – truly thoughtful! I must commend them! I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit.

Looking for a relaxing getaway near Shanghai, the first place that came to mind was the Xihu State Guesthouse. I've stayed here since I was a child and it has always left a lasting impression. It boasts prime, unobstructed views of West Lake, and the grounds are expansive and incredibly tranquil. The greenery is meticulously maintained, and there are no mosquitoes, which shows a lot of dedication! **Daily Welcome Fruit:** Fresh fruit is replenished daily. This summer, they offered lotus pods which were wonderfully refreshing. **In-room Mini Bar:** The minibar is complimentary and restocked daily. This was perfect for us, as we just wanted to relax at the hotel 😄 There's also afternoon tea or access to the Red Bar daily, which kept things quite fulfilling. This time, we stayed in a family room in Building 2. It offered lake views from the window and a small balcony. The room felt newly renovated, and all the facilities were complete and working perfectly. There's also a pillow menu with various options that housekeeping can deliver. However, the shampoo and shower gel refills in the family room seemed a bit stingy 😂. With my mom, my sister, and myself, that's three adults. The shower gel wasn't replenished on the first day, and on the second and third days, they only provided one bottle. Each time I asked the attendant for more, I was met with a surprised, "Wasn't it provided?" 😂
