Tai O Heritage Hotel

This heritage hotel, a former police station, boasts colonial architecture. The room environment was excellent with thoughtful amenities like a dehumidifier and mosquito repellent. The room itself was quite spacious, especially the bathroom, and featured two generously sized beds. The room is regularly maintained, so despite the aged flooring, the furniture is well-kept. However, the air conditioning unit was quite noisy at night, which was particularly noticeable given how quiet the surroundings were – something to be aware of. The hotel is situated in a slightly more remote part of Tai O. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk from the pier to the hotel, and it can be quite strenuous, especially if you're pulling heavy luggage up the hotel's slope. I suggest the hotel consider arranging one to two daily boat transfers from the main pier to the pier next to the hotel, which would be much more convenient. Alternatively, they could offer electric or golf cart transfers, even for a fee, to assist seniors and children. The staff were very friendly and had excellent attitudes. However, the lighting at night was a bit dim, particularly on the stairs; improving the evening illumination would be beneficial. The hotel doesn't have other facilities, but it does have a good quality restaurant where you can have breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner, though the prices are not cheap. Guests might consider dining at other restaurants in Tai O, but many shops close after dark, so it's advisable to prepare your own supplies and eat early. I recommend this hotel for a relaxing and leisurely trip.

The environment is elegant, fresh, and natural, and the cultural and creative products showcase the cultural life experience of Tai O residents. The breakfast is rich and varied.

Atmosphere: This is a very unique hotel, a Grade II historic building in Hong Kong, built on a hill overlooking the sea. From outside, you can see the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge in the distance and watch the sunset. Hygiene: Very clean, especially the shower facilities. Besides the main showerhead, there are six body jets on the wall, perfect for a shower massage. Amenities: There's an elevator to the hotel from the foot of the hill, designed like a mini Peak Tram, which is both fun and convenient for guests. Service: Excellent! We felt right at home. You can even join a 20-minute guided tour that covers the hotel's history and its past use as a British military barracks. Restaurant: The Lookout hotel restaurant deserves a special mention. The setting is beautiful, the ingredients are fresh, and the food is healthy and delicious. They've uniquely incorporated some local Tai O ingredients into their Western dishes, making them truly one-of-a-kind. For example, they serve fried fish fillets and chicken wings with a tartar sauce infused with Tai O shrimp paste, and cheesecake with Roselle jam. These creative touches really enhance the flavor of the food. Both the hotel and the restaurant are highly recommended!

This hotel is truly unique! However, aside from the beautiful rooms and delicious food at the restaurant, there aren't any other facilities. But as a heritage hotel, we shouldn't expect it to have the same amenities as other five-star hotels. The staff were excellent and very dedicated.

This hotel, converted from a police station, has a great atmosphere and unique charm. However, the air conditioning noise in the room was unbearable. I tried to switch rooms, but was told they were all the same. The front desk staff, perhaps due to cultural differences, were not very warm or accommodating.

The hotel truly makes guests feel at home. The staff are friendly, and the food at the glasshouse restaurant is quite good. This is definitely a great place to relax and unwind, and the location is excellent. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, the hotel was undergoing renovations during my stay, and there was also construction happening at the pier. The breakfast wasn't very good; the bread was quite hard.
