This is my favorite hotel out of 7 hotels I stayed in this trip in Japan. Love the view, love the room, love the onsen. The price is cheap for a big room and great view with breakfast and dinner. Highly recommend this hote

By far, this is one of my most favorite hotel during the recent Tohoku road trip. Get the room rate that comes with half board meals. The dinner experience was magnificent with semi buffet plus wagyu shabu shabu. All the guests are dressed in the provided yukata and the atmosphere is just another level. Breakfast was splendid too. Staffs were most friendly and the futons were heavenly to sleep in at the Japanese style room. View of lake view room was beautiful with large windows Only minus point is that the Japanese style room is a bit dated with some wear and tear. Overall 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Enjoyed the stay at Hotel Shion. The staff were extremely helpful even though they spoke limited English. Room is clean and comfortable. Onsen is nice with indoor and outdoor pools. Compound and surrounds are beautiful with the lake and a small church (likely for weddings). Breakfast spread is wide with traditional Japanese and some Western items (bacon, sausages, fries).

The hotel's location isn't super convenient, but it wasn't an issue for us since we were driving. Dinner was a semi-buffet, and we paid extra for a children's meal. The presentation was exquisite, and the food tasted great. The lobby had a free coffee machine, drinks dispenser, and popsicles available until 9 PM. Coincidentally, there was a group performance that evening, so after dinner, we grabbed a free coffee and enjoyed the show comfortably from the sofa. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet with a decent variety of options. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.

Amazing view and spacious room. If you are staying 1 night, be sure to visit the onsen at the evening / afternoon, because next morning you get to try another different set of onsen. Good food. Highly recommend. There is a special performance at the hall at 8.15pm until 2027, non guest need to pay 1,500jpy and we get to watch it for free. Very memorable experience. Contact hotel before hand to book a shuttle service from morioka station, they dropped you at the doorstep.

The hotel's scenery was absolutely stunning! We visited in April, and opening the window revealed beautiful lake views and snow-capped mountains. The hot springs were also fantastic. It happened to be a festival in April, so there were folk song and dance performances in the evenings. There's a shuttle bus service between Morioka Station and the hotel, but you need to book it in advance. If you can't get on the shuttle, there are also public buses that go to the hotel.
