Spark by Hilton Freeport

Last minute booking made here and we were not disappointed. It’s peaceful, clean and our room was large and spotlessly clean. The bed was very large and so comfortable, and we slept extremely well. No coffee maker in the room but coffee and water was available in the breakfast area. Small patio outside was good for an end of evening glass of wine. Breakfast was adequate for our needs. Easy to find and parking was no issue. Ideal for onward travel as close to main routes. The young man on reception was excellent and all the other staff we met were helpful. Relaxing stay in the middle of a very busy trip.

This room was less than desirable. It was not updated. Had mold on the shower ceiling and bathroom door. Pillow case, bedspread and towels had stains on them. Carpet had what appeared to be blood. Asked to speak to the manager and was told he was out of the country. Slept in my clothes.

Bare bones and decent value for a roadside inn. Easy parking, workable wifi, and a hot shower. Plus for a nice frozen custard spot up the road as well as a lovely brewery/restaurant across the street. Easy striking distance to L.L. Bean-dom up the road in Freeport.

Clean and reasonable. Under some renovation. Breakfast is free , cereal, fruit , juice, coffee. Close to the highway. Pleasant front desk staff. Apart from a brew pub across the street, not really much close by to choose from without driving.

First impression upon arrival was slightly off putting as the hotel's exterior looked a bit aged and tired to me. The hotel looked older, there were no cars on the lot when I arrived and some of the vegetation was a bit overgrown. But upon entering I found a very friendly front desk person and check-in was fast and easy. Inside, the interior is utilitarian but seems to be clean and well outfitted. Guest room #112 was clearly fairly recently renovated and was clean. All the typical amenities including large flat screen TV, microwave, mini fridge, iron and board. Plenty of task lighting and charging ports, good mattress with soft pillows. Shower had very good water pressure. Overall, I was surprised by the room only because it seemed to have garnered more attention than the exterior. Continental breakfast was included. The fee was about $150/night.

I’ve stayed at this Inn several times pre- pandemic and it was always amazing. However new owners have now taken over and it’s apparent they want to run this once fine establishment right into the ground. First the staff barely speak English. They post a sign at the desk saying they are helping other guests. While in fact they are actually hiding in a back room and magically appear when you call out or make some noise in the lobby. The new owners have attempted to make some improvements, but all have failed miserably. They installed electric air fresheners in the hallways that constantly omit an odor of dead fish. Many areas have been repainted by obvious amateurs. Drips of paint everywhere and you can clearly see the old color of paint in many areas the painters missed. Our bathroom originally had a solid surface counter top and sink. It was painted over with white paint which has mostly washed away showing the previous finish. Don’t believe any positive reviews of this dump. It’s all fake news obviously posted by family and friends of the current owner. The only good news is this Inn will most probably fail and be sold again. Hopefully the next owner will bring back its old glory.

We arrived around 11:15pm and the first thing that hit us was the horrific smell. There is nothing short of decaying bodies, urine and Industrial Cleaner to cover them up that can make a smell as bad as this place. There is no elevator and no one to help with bags. How they can call this dump an Inn is a mystery? The room smelled just as disgusting as the lobby and the pillow cases were stained. The bathroom was dirty so we booked it out of there at 11:30pm. The front desk was closed and we knew we had little chance of a refund but we ran anyway.

The room has stinky smell and dust everywhere also the bathtub was dirty and faucet was almost fall off. I was disappointed.
