Sofitel Singapore Sentosa

Even though the online reviews were generally average, I still firmly chose to stay here because I liked the hotel's style. Overall, it was a good experience. Transportation (last 2 pictures): 1. The island's free B line shuttle bus (runs every 15 minutes until 12:15 AM) has a stop here. After getting off, the golf course is on the left, and the hotel is on the right. It's just a short walk up a small slope. 2. The hotel's mini-bus can take you to Universal Studios and Vivocity MRT station (Exit D), but large luggage is not allowed. Room: Very spacious, there's even a foyer right after the entrance where you can place two suitcases. The decor and facilities are quite new, but there's no view. Service: One of the front desk staff speaks Chinese. We arrived at 10 AM, checked in, but the room wasn't ready. The hotel delivered our luggage to the room by 3 PM. If you arrive at 3 PM, you might have to queue for check-in. Swimming Pool: It's indeed just average. They don't even require swimming caps, and there were leaves at the bottom of the pool. It's open from 7 AM to 7 PM.

The hotel is a bit old, but the public areas are well-maintained. There was a notice in the room stating that some rooms were undergoing renovations. Luckily, there was no construction noise, but I suspect the rooms allocated to Ctrip are the unrenovated ones. It's possible that Ctrip gets rooms at a lower price, so they wouldn't offer the best ones... At least that was the case for our family room. It looked nothing like the pictures – it was old and dimly lit. You'll need to bring your own power adapter. The family room is a two-bedroom unit, and surprisingly, the living room with the sofa bed has no windows, yet there's a blackout curtain on the wall. This is because the walls are so thin that light seeps through. The springs in the sofa bed are also worn out; it sags as soon as you lie on it. The hotel offers a shuttle, which is very convenient for getting to VivoCity and Universal Studios. From the pool, it's just a few minutes' walk down to Palawan Beach.

It's quite a distance from the resort-style hotels. The facilities are relatively old, and there's a strong paint smell on the first and second floors. There are limited entertainment options for children, and the pool closes at 8 PM. It's very close to Tanjung Beach, but the beach itself isn't very crowded.

I want to give a serious review for those who might find it helpful. I was originally staying in the city center, but I decided last minute to spend a night in Sentosa for a mini-vacation. So I booked quite late, and many Sentosa hotels were already full. I've stayed at Resorts World before, so I chose the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, which is located near Palawan Beach. 1. According to online guides, I planned to take the hotel shuttle bus from VivoCity. However, when I got to Exit D, I didn't see any bus. I didn't realize I should just wait a bit, so I went back into VivoCity and took the monorail to Beach Station. It took a long time to finally find Bus B, following online instructions. The waiting and travel time to the club opposite the hotel took forever. After getting off at the club, remember to walk uphill. We even passed an area under renovation, which was hot and smelly. At that moment, I regretted my decision. 2. When I got to the hotel, I realized there was nowhere nearby to buy food, not even a small convenience store. Luckily, I had the foresight to ask my friend to bring drinks and snacks from VivoCity. This time, I finally got the shuttle bus schedule from the front desk. 3. The service was okay, I guess, even though we couldn't check in right away. I requested a quiet room, but it turned out to be opposite a renovated area. 4. When I entered the room, it was so old! It was far worse than the cheaper four-star hotel I stayed at in the city. I didn't even dare open the cabinet doors, and the bathroom tiles were just awful. Well, it was just for one night. Then I noticed something embedded in the headboard. I don't know whose idea that was, but I slept uneasily all night. 5. In the evening, I thought about taking a walk along Palawan Beach, but the path behind the hotel was incredibly rugged, even though there were steps. Thankfully, I had read online guides, and I felt hesitant to even use the wooden ladder. 6. Since there wasn't much else to eat, we ended up at The Cliff, the hotel restaurant. I can't say the food was terrible, and hotel guests even got a discount. But remember, water costs money, and they don't tell you upfront. Just for one meal, alright, my wallet hurt! I really recommend not booking this place. I was hoping for a resort-like feel by staying inside, but it really wasn't, and it was super inconvenient.

An old hotel, terribly run-down and not maintained. The service is also subpar. Not worth the price.

Here are the issues I encountered: 1. The pool was quite dirty; guests weren't wearing swim caps, and there were no requirements for foot disinfection before entering. 2. The hotel's policy of holding the deposit for a ridiculous 14 days before refunding it was not communicated by the front desk. 3. There were giant lizards right by the accommodation, which was quite frightening. 4. The room area was still under renovation during my stay.

We stayed for 2 nights and I was most impressed by how kind and helpful everyone was, from the reception staff to the minibus drivers and restaurant staff. The hotel was clean, quiet, and peacocks often roamed around, making for a truly relaxing stay! It was also easy to get around with frequent shuttle buses to the casino, USS (Universal Studios Singapore), and the Resort World Sentosa Monorail station. I'd love to visit again! Overall, it was quite good. The only issue was that the room I was assigned had scaffolding outside due to ongoing renovations, which slightly affected the experience. There was some noise during the day, but all other services were excellent. I booked one twin room and one king room, and they arranged them next to each other as connecting rooms, which was great. The hotel lacks some family-friendly facilities, only having a large swimming pool. The hotel's breakfast was also quite good.

From the front desk to the doorman to the restaurant staff, everyone was very welcoming. A great hotel!
